"Newbies board"

This is something I posted a long time ago without result so I'd like to ask the Talkboard to look into it.

Milesbuzz is constantly being used by new (and not so new) members as a place to post their first questions, seemingly as they are not too well aware of the inner workings of FT... These posts get locked, moved or criticized by existing members for being misposted… Existing members know where to look if a post has been moved but new members just see their post disappear and will probably never find it again..

Which brings me to the idea, why don’t we have a “newbies zone”? Somewhere where new members can post their questions regardless of it’s contents, get their answer AND get a helpful tip where to post next time. Surely this will reduce the strain on Milesbuzz and create less annoyance for our new members? I’d say put that forum up on top as that seems to be the place where most people post when they don’t know their way around….

Thanks in advance for your time http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I always try and point new folks to New User Tips if I remember!

And, of course, FlyerTalkers Ask Questions!

Geeezz, Scott, can't you find the original thread! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Do a bit of "leg work!" http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Just joking, of course! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Scott...

Did you miss the elections and appointments? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Might not be a bad idea for everyone to revisit such a "newbie" section... seems like people who have been here for awhile don't seem to understand what to post where and what personal attacks look like... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Thanks for bringing it back to our attention.

Chex, William,

Thanks for the reply, I understand from your posts that my idea now has the attention of the Talkboard?

Thanks in advance for that!

Your most welcome, Scott! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

I do surely try! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

BTW, where the heck is your usually boundless sense of humour these days?

I hope you see that it was a "joke," or rather, at least, an attempt at one, based upon irony and such! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

It's not as if I'd posted a lengthy, all inclusive, reference to each of the "constructive" posts that ya' made in response to so many of my posts! I'd be welcome to, if ya' like! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/tongue.gif

Again, smile, please, as that was my intent, to be clear! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Have a great weekend! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

As a further aside, perhaps users with less than a specified post count (less than ten?) could have some type of default that takes them to that board first and requires them to consciously override that to post on another forum?

(Then again, I'm sure that some of you would then want to take the same technology and have all users with greater than a specified post count also default to a specified forum... so maybe introducing such a concept might not be such a good idea!) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Techgirl,

perhaps we sent every person there everytime they want to post... think that would cut down on the posts? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I have nothing to say. I just want to up my post count so someday I can be a member of the segregationist clique.

HowardJohnson. Well done. You'll fit in nicely. Been to the Hilton Forum btw? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
