Agree. It's one of the reasons I don't really go to MP (the other being not as much content there). I hate the avatars/logos, etc.

Count my input as being against this idea.

Cheers.

FT already suppresses / does not allow avatars / profile pictures so they do not show up in posts.

Thank you for all responses! Clearly on the negative on this matter.

To clarify, 50 is the height while 400 is the width, which is roughly the size of two full lines of text at size 12 font without scrolling to a third line.

FT has a VBulletin standard feature that limits the available space to approximately two lines of size 12 text, which I believe, but am not certain, is determined in pixel dimensions. If a text line scrolls past the 50x400 limit the signature will automatically be rejected, this also applies to images in the fact that if a signature that has images attempts to be entered it will be automatically rejected as well.

This is correct, in - post avatars are turned off. However, I must point out that even in profiles, the profile pictures and avatars are compressed and not the original full size file in order to optimize loading.

To everyone else, thank you for your thoughts on this matter. I now find that images in signatures really isn't worth the trouble. @:-)

Have a good day,

Based on the information I have to date, I agree.

Do a lot of people still have signatures turned on? They're a high waste of screen space and how annoying to see someone's favorite quote repeated 7 times down the page.

I turned them off 10 years ago and forgot they even exist anymore.

I have them turned on, although I don't always pay attention to people's signatures. Can't speak for others. I'd rather see a quote than a gazillion images.

Likewise - I've had mine turned off for a long time and don't miss them at all.

Mine are turned on but I rarely notice signatures. However, images would slow down the site so that one wouldn't have the option to just ignore them.

Did people turn off signatures before FT put limitations on size in place? If so, they're really unobtrusive now.

Font size is limited and no emojis are permitted. All you see is normal size text. Some people have a few colors, but it's nothing that's bothersome now.

You are probably correct, Mary2e.

After all, life is too short to spend it being angry.

Now where have I read that...?

Hey, until the new rules, it used to have a star before and after, and the font was 1 size larger

I probably did turn them off before the new restrictions, but I've never liked signatures of any kind on any message board I've ever visited, so it's not just here on FT.

I use my first name as my signature, as I got tired of being called "he" in responses on FT.

Cheers.
