So if that's the case on the AS forum why couldn't the existing "Other" airline FFP forums have accommodated budget/LCC topics?

To be honest, I never did hear a strong argument why that wasn't a good idea.

For the recrord, I have voted "no" on this proposal and, if it had failed, would have immediately suggested a proposal to retitle the "Other ___ Airlines" forums to accommodate budget/LCC carriers.

Unfortunately, as SkiAdcock has indicated, the deed is done, and the vote will pass. If it appears after a year or so that it would work better, perhaps the TalkBoard can merge the budget/LCC forums into the respective Other forums.

I also voted no.

I like to think that if the language of this motion had been posted in this forum before a motion was made and seconded, a good discussion could have taken place to fine a solution that had my firm support rather than my utter dubiety. Hopefully this best practice will be followed in the future.

But with so little certainty of mind I could not bring myself to support the motion to recommend creating these 4 new forums.

That said, assuming the CD accepts this recommendation, I do fervently hope that they all succeed without over-diluting the other 'Other' regional airline forums.

jackal and koko, I respect your opinions and I thank you for studying the issue. In the public and private discussions of this issue I found opinions all over the map. It's not clear that any alternate version of this proposal would have obtained a 2/3 Yes vote.

The main reason for the 4 forums was to match the existing structure. If we want to change the structure for Other Airlines the count might decrease. Also, if the larger budget airlines (EasyJet and RyanAir at a minimum) ever get their own forums then jackal's idea of merging to create "Budget and Other" regional forums might work well. In my opinion that approach should be the top candidate if in the future modification appears necessary.

Some might think I deserve a prize for coming up with something on which you were unable to take a firm Yes or No position! I always thought that "kokonutz" and "undecided" were mutually exclusive.

Are there examples somewhere of the airlines to go in each?

Well, no, someone has already posted that a number of those airlines are out of business. Also, don't we have forums already for some of them? I've created the forums, but need someone to do the heavy lifting on descriptions.

Meant to say, "anything on that list that still exists." Could probably add "and that doesn't already have a forum."

Sorry, I've been on my iPhone all day and won't have access to a computer until late tonight.

Some of those airlines have a loyalty program of sorts.
