The system remembers if you have Wikiposts expanded or collapsed. If you collapse a Wikipost, you won't see any of them until you expand one with the +/- toggle.

In a few cases I have used the Wikipost to create instructions for the thread. Previously, I would have used the first post in the thread for this purpose, but it's easier for members to navigate to the Wikipost than to the root post.

Example:

I can see this being sensible where the thread itself is also locked. For a good example, see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/credi...scription.html. In this case, the lock isn't punitive, but rather a means of protecting a wiki/thread where a non-mod volunteer actively curates the info.

Just discovered the +/- affects all wikis when I tried the - and then went to a dif forum & a wiki I created wasn't showing. Learn something new every day.

And your example makes sense to me.

I know that was the case several months ago when they were first being tested, but once testing was over/they went live I don't see a reason to have a wiki locked. That seems to defeat the purpose of a wiki. On a dif note - learned something today. Never noticed the + or - before on the wikis.

Cheers.
I have not run across any locked wikis. Can someone provide examples of some?

At least one of the AA merger threads has a locked wiki. That was the first one I noticed, right around the time SanDiego1K asked TB and mods to please created a wiki on something.
