2012 Talkboard elections
A boardwide announcement will go up on October 24, encouraging members to run for Talkboard. Dates are now set for the election, so I thought I'd go ahead and post them here for those of you who regularly track Talkboard matters.
Candidate Application:. Mon, Oct 24 - Thurs, Nov 4 Accepting applications for the five Talkboard openings. Candidate debate:. Thurs, Nov 4 - Mon, Nov 14 Candidate balloting:. Tues, Nov 15 - Mon, Nov 28 Voting will begin on Tues, Nov 15 and end Mon, Nov 28 at midnight. New members are then seated and have 1 week overlap with outgoing members 5 slots that will be open are currently filled by jackal, lucky9876coins, Markie, nsx, and UA_Flyer |
I urge anyone who has not served on TalkBoard, or has served only one term, to consider running.
Fresh blood and new ideas can only help FT. |
5 open seats, wow.

At least one of the current TBers named in OP, Markie, has decided not to seek another term:

As folks are thinking about the elections, it might be helpful to post election rules. It's all a bit boring and bland - it's not your high school student council election.
TalkBoard guidelines: "c. Campaigning is restricted to the current year's TalkBoard Election forum and members' signature lines. In order to respect the privacy of all members, campaigning by the TalkBoard candidates may not be done via mass usage of the FlyerTalk Private Message system or via mass-mailed FlyerTalk email campaigns. Any TalkBoard candidate found to be mass-emailing via the FlyerTalk email system or abusing the FlyerTalk Private Message or Social Networking system for the purpose of campaigning will be removed from the ballot by the FlyerTalk Host and will not be eligible to run in that year's TalkBoard elections." I'll remind those who run of that rule. Also, to prevent any bias, only the Community Director (me) can take any disciplinary action against candidates during the election period. I'll be asking at the proper time for questions that you'd like to have put to the candidates. I'm the one who will do that. We'll have a forum specific to the campaign, as we do each year. Only candidates and admin will be allowed to post in that forum. Everyone who votes should read those exchanges. I've found some members with terrific ideas, hitherto unknown to me, whom I've voted for in past elections. |
