April Fools Thread
PLEASE consider banning "april fool's day threads." I've wasted a LOT of time today following up on red herrings.
|
I'm going to second this as they're really annoying and in fact some are downright rude. I'm all for good humor but putting up a prank fare really isn't funny imho.
Cheers Howie |
Yes, please ban these. They are stupid and not funny at all. We all know it's AFD and seeing so many fake threads is boring.
|
Gadling spent the whole day doing pointless AFD posts. And then at the end of the night, they post about the WN jet with a hole today. Had I not read about it elsewhere first, I wouldn't have believed that one either. Pretty simple to kill all your credibility in one day.
|
Can't we have one day of fun in this way too serious world?
I vote to NOT ban the posts! Cheers! JudyJFLA |
I find them to be a pointless waste of time. Like the TSA Nude-O-Scopes. If you're smart enough, you can make a post that's close enough to being real that people might believe it. And that just causes more problems than the "one day of fun" creates.

The real creative ones earn my grudging respect. The rest, not so much and could do without them.
The same topic comes up every year in response, some posters fine with it and others wanting to end the FT tradition and I don't think anything is going to change at this or any other level. |

On many of our forums FT'ers have an annual tradition of posting really imaginative April Fools threads which are extremely entertaining. Frankly I see absolutely nothing wrong with them as long as they do not violate the TOS. That being said I don't believe that this is a TB issue or even in their domain and it is the responsibility of the moderator corps to handle these matters. @:-)

What's imaginative about putting up fake deals in mileage run or hotel deals that make people go on wild goose chases? I think some in past years have been funny however maybe it's just my sense of humor but how is putting up a fake deal at the Park Hyatt in Zurich funny?

Like I said, it should be up to the forum's moderators to decide what is appropriate or not.

Lighten up people. By the 7th post in the hotel thread, it was obvious that this was a joke. If you spent an hour trying to book the thing, then I'd say that the joke worked perfectly.

I disagree as the Zurich thread was allowed to stand and yet others were locked. We need a clear policy on these sorts of things imho. Just banning these threads on MR and Hotel deals that would do the trick.
