Proposal: Time for a LAN forum

It seems like the time has come for a LAN forum - just perusing the past 100 days in the "other n/s america" programs, there are 116 posts, and approx. 38 (nearly 1/3) of them are LAN-related.

Much as I would like to support another Oneworld forum, one-third of a post per day isn't really a demonstrated need for a separate forum, in my opinion.

I had wonderful pisco sours in their lounge at SCL.

Given they've recently expanded to my home and native land and I enjoyed them immensely on a recent Argentinian journey, I'll give my support to this proposal. Great airline. ^

Though not completely convinced as yet, I can see that there may be added value to a LAN forum.

I agree. They do have have an excellent frequent flyer program, at least with certain redemptions possible via SPG transfers. While that alone isn't enough to justify a forum, it's worth considering.

They are also becoming if not already are the powerhouse of South America. They are likely to expand within Brazil soon http://envivodesdescl.blogspot.com/ and already have extensive networks in Chile, Argentina, Peru, and now expanding within Ecuador, and more point-to-point between countries. (This isn't crazy expansion, it is controlled, measured expansion, which they don't hesitate to retract if it isn't profitable.) The 787 delay is going to slow what they are doing, but I really think they are going to be a major player N/S America and S America/Europe in the coming years, and one of the few major airlines actually making money right now.

It would be nice to have LAN all to itself, so it doesn't get lost in both the "Other" and "One World" forums.

I'm ambivalently supportive.

On the one hand I don't see a TON of traffic.

On the other, it's a growing airline with key partners.

I tend to say 'give it a shot' though, so...

As alluded to by Eastbay1K, new threads on LAN sometimes get started in the Oneworld forum. If the discussion is specific to LAN then generally I move it to the Other American FFPs forum after a couple of days. If the discussion covers both LAN and other OW airlines I generally keep it in the OW forum where it has greater visibility. If there was a new LAN forum that might see more threads put there. Sorry I don't have any metrics on such threads (posted in the OW forum) - I'd expect it is a few threads a month.

Yeah, I think it would be perfect time to create new LAN forums immediately.

If a motion and a second are made, then the TalkBoard liaison would announce such a vote.

I've seen very little, if anything, that demonstrates a need for a LAN forum outside of ONASAFFP.
