How about a Mileage-Range Topic ?
Mileage-Range Topic
Like there are mileage runs to earn the cheapest/fastest way miles to attain/keep a certain status. How about a topic that discusses how to stretch every mile. Mileage-Range* basically means to explore/ploit the furthest certain miles can get you. An real life example would be 4500 miles to go from LHR- to ICN in Business (*A). I suppose it would be clever to subdivide into the different Frequent flyer programs. |
A dedicated forum on the topic? No, sorry I couldn't see it, though a thread on the MR Discussion forum would seem as gooda place any any IMHO.

I'm sorry but I have no idea what you're talking about.
Now using your brains, you will probably find loopholes or ways to go very far using the same amount of miles which were intended for much shorter flights. My example was: traveling from London to Seoul for 4500 miles in Business Class, which is unbelievable. |
Since frequent flyer mile redemptions are FFP-specific, you will find appropriate redemption threads in the FFP forums.
General, non-program-specific discussions could go in MilesBuzz (at a stretch: a 'best redemptions ever' thread) but I think it would mostly be program-specific. How about a similar thread in the *A forum, since people could compare point breaks between carriers? :) Please, don't put this kind of thing in Mileage Run Discussion (FFP-specific redemptions are not mileage-earning fares!) |

I can't agree with tcook052 more. One discussion thread should be good enough. yesitshere: How about a Mileage-Range Topic? You don't have to ask Talkboard to start any thread. Why not just go ahead and start such thread in the right forum? |

It appears you meant award travel. Somehow I recall seeing a similar discussion thread in either Travelbuzz! Forum or MilesBuzz! Forum.

Is it the fact that it seems that most guys here get their tix paid by the place they are employed, where as I pay my own? |

Well, almost every comment I post seems to be taken the wrong...
Despite my few posts, I travel very much. Post count has nothing to do with a good post, thread or TB proposal. A proposal from a FTers with high post count doesn't mean it would take off on FT. Here's a good suggestion for FT from another FTer with low post count. FT IT folks didn't work on it but that's another story for another day. Please humor us, if not about miles stretches on award redemptions (which is not under TB's purview), what exactly are you asking or suggesting the TalkBoard to do for you? |

BTW FT has always been much more about earning the FFP/FFM than spending them. :D |

Sorry we all misunderstood you. We tried to understand your post but failed.

I wanted to get some kind of approval before hitting the "new topic button" as I might be into flying, but not so much into the ideology. I would be stupid to start a topic, to either receive a pm from an administrator that somehow I'm not abiding the rules (G-d knows what for...) and my post has been deleted, or for my topic to disappear below the newer posts, with an occasional reply of myself "hello people, are you not interested?" I sound a little dramatic right? Sorry that's one of the side effects of hearing over and over and over again the same music and messages when on hold by the airline.... Besides if I should start it, where would you suggest I post it? |

First of all thanks a lot for the kind word;

Besides if I should start it, where would you suggest I post it? Anyone can start a new thread on anything. If you start it in the right place, it will stay there. If you start it in the wrong place, it will be moved, with a pointer in the original place (which will drop down as it ages). If it's on a topic that already has a recently active thread, it may be merged into that thread. It has to be pretty bad to be completely deleted. The topic you're suggesting is unlikely to be that bad. As previously posted, this discussion is likely to be airline-specific or at least alliance-specific. So, I'd just go to the forum of the airline or alliance you want to discuss and look for recently active threads in that forum about this. If you don't find one, click the "New Thread" button, and post. New forums (fora?) are a different story. Those need discussion and approval. This is where you'd suggest one. People would discuss it, and the TalkBoard would ultimately vote on approving it. If it's approved, it will show up in the list of FT forums along with all the others. |

Do you feel that this would justify a forum, where people would post their 'thing' with their respective program? Mileage Runs has become a huge thing here, but the idea on its own, to my opinion is not greater then mine. (forget the fact that people with >500 posts have become so accustomed to the way it works). Frankly speaking I don't find FT so well (=clearly) subdivided. |
What I mean to say is that if you visit http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ on impressive the 3rd place you have the mileage runs.
It seems that this is the dominating subject here. It makes me feel "UP in the AIR"... |

Generally speaking, as long as you are not attacking fellow FTers nor bumping threads that are than 2-year-old, no post or thread should be deleted by mods if you're following the rules. I say 99% of FTers have no problem abiding to FT TOS. If a post or thread fails to attract traffic or responses, well, maybe it's just not interesting enough for FTers. ;)

Are you into maximizing the value of award redemptions? Or are you asking the longest trip (distance-wise) one may take with least miles? What do you want FTers to discuss with you? Those topics may already been covered on FT already. FWIW, I don't think TalkBoard Topics Forum is the right place for your topic anyway. |

If you can tell us what exactly is the topic you want to discuss, savvy FTers or mods may be able to show you the right way.

I was actually looking for the distance wise to have people brainstorm about it. With little thinking you can get those satisfying brilliant ideas, where you don't even need to fly to enjoy (saves you even more miles):D |
