Forgive the skepticism, but the press release doesn't say very much. There's no mention of the exchange rate to be used; the wording is vague, to say the least; in the end, all it does is promise non-specific offers to be announced on an unspecified date.

Then again, if the exchange rate is bad, the auction price of points is going down accordingly.

Interesting thought. So we should track the auction price of Co-op points to check for any signals.

This actually used to be a good hint in the past. Of course, it always helped to have additional insider information.

Anyway, since M&M mileage transfer is by far the most favorite Coop award, auction prices definitely will reflect both any further devalulation of miles and falling points-to-miles exchange rates.

Of course, if the exchange rate becomes that bad that it doesn't make any business sense to collect and resell Coop points at all, the entire system will collapse. Just like real currencies in the real world.

Interesting article on tagesanzeiger.ch. (sorry, in German only).

Boah...
Swiss wollte den bisherigen Partner Coop und seine Superpunkte durch die Migros und ihre Cumulus-Punkte ersetzen.

(Swiss wanted to replace it's actual partner Coop with it's superpoints by Migros and it's Cumulus-points...)

OK, I still prefere Migros's Ice-tea above Coop's, but this would have been a catastrophe for all them who have a travel-life depending from Superpoints... (and Ricardo wold have gone bankrupt...).
