Will I have a problem?
Three days ago I found what seemed to me to be a bargain F fare on ITA Matrix of £2000 from OSL to BKK in mid-September, one way. It was available on Expedia so I bought it.
However, the Swiss site will not let me reserve a seat or see the meal pre-order for the ZHR - BKK leg although it did allow me to select a seat on the OSL - ZHR leg. Both Expedia and LX indicate the OSL flight is in J and the BKK one in F. I am just a little worried that this is a mistake fare which they will not honour. The J fare equivalent is now £2900 so although the F fare is not cheap it looks a relative bargain. Would one expect to be able to fully access the LX site with an OTA booking? Should I worry? The J fare on the day I bought the F was about £1800 I think but I did not make a record of it so relying on my less than sharp memory! I do have a six alphanumeric confirmation number from Expedia, that allows me to access parts of the LX site that I can use, as well as a ticket number but it begins 724.... which is suspiciously like the Expedia itinerary number which starts 726.... so I am not sure whether this is a real LX ticketed trip yet. (I don't normally fret about bookings but I am now booking no refund hotels in Bangkok and Chiang Mai as well as domestic Thai flights.) |

It is not a mistake fare at that price ;) 724 are LX ticket numbers |
Thanks a lot for this information, particularly the confirmation of the start of the ticket number.
I still can’t reserve my seat even on the LH website. Get the same message as I do on the LX site : Unfortunately we cannot offer you a seat reservation for this flight segment. You may select your seat during Check-in But not now worried; just anticipating the experience. Not too much though as a F on LH last year, eagerly anticipated, did not live up to expectations (notwithstanding the duck)! Thanks again for the quick reply. |
If the (724) ticket is issued and the reservation is visible on LX and LH.com you are good to go. You can call LX and ask for a seat assignment. The cheap F fares ex BKK are a feature, not a bug.

This sometimes happens, not sure why. The hotline can assign seats.
