On LX: does "A" availability mean that there is award space?

I always thought it would, but maybe I am mixing this up with A=available for upgrade.

There is a flight that I see has 2 seats in A class, but M&M site says there is no availability. Will calling them help? I have HON status if that helps, flying with my son.

A is discounted First for paid tickets. F is full fare. Awards book onto O, at leats in my experience. All tools I know don't show O.

My experience is when A is at 5 or higher you often can find award space.

I believe you always need to call for F awards on Swiss, at lest for me as lowly SEN.

LH F awards and upgrades book into O, but LX F awards and upgrades book into A. However, the availability of A on LX does not guarantee the availability of an award or upgrade because the award/upgrade A is a smaller subset of the "regular" A. On the other hand, calling in for a desired award is always a good idea, especially with status, because waitlists often clear instantly.

A class used be the primary factor, not anymore, A is hard to get but 0 is close to mission impossible on popular routes, but yes, its best to call LX

nowadays only calling the core customer service in Basel (HON hotline) works for First awards on LX in my experience. Except during a few days before departure, LX F awards are not made available online.

ExpertFlyer shows LX O class (or at least it claims it can show it accurately).
Others have noted here that LX first class awards book into A, which would make ExpertFlyer more or less useless (?) for this purpose.

EF will never show correctly availability of LX First awards. Even M&M online won‘t show them before a few days of departure.

Tbh these days sometimes I find O easier to get than A.

A and O aren’t related whatsoever.

NYC, BOS, NRT seem to have lots of O, more than on LH. DXB closer to departure too (but almost none further out).
