Possible pilot strike 17 October

As reported in Swiss media, the LX pilots have threatened a strike on 17 October.

Negotiations are ongoing.

My understanding is that they threatened to go on strike "from" Oct 17th.

That is in the middle of the fall holidays one of the busiest aur travel times for Swiss families.
The timing is perfect for preventing most families from travelling home. The return peak travelling will be the weekend after the 17th October.
You see the tactics: Annoy most of the Swiss Population...

Correct. The pilots union, Aeropers, gave a one month warning saying that from 17 October, they would consider going on strike.

I doubt they will go on strike. In the whole 70-year Swissair and 20-year SWISS tradition there was never a strike, even though threatened. It is a Swiss custom/tradition not to strike, unlike Germany, France, Benelux et all. They will find a solution by then. A strike would seriously harm the image which no one wants. We will see.

I am to teturn from the US after vacation on 22 Oct, staying longer I would not really mind

With the current LHG management style it is only a matter of time until this Swiss no-strike tradition will be no more.

We read that they're voting on whether they're going to strike or not. We're waiting to decide next week if we should cancel our Swiss refundable tickets and book with AA to then go MIA-PHL-ZRH and avoid getting stuck in Zurich during the strike which is the week we're supposed to fly back to the US.
