Then only HON and the F-pax of LX will use this F-part of the lounge, as long as LH has no F-flights from JFK.
I agree. My reply referred to LHSEN ’s question about VIP One which is the service in T1 where the check in agent escorts you to a small room near security that allows you to cut the line. LH offers that to F/HON and I am sure that it will be offered to F/HON on LX now that it is in T1. I was not referring to a real lounge, which I am sure will remain the LH lounge there and they better open the F/HON floor asap…

I'm really wondering/worried what happened to the former Lx/Swissport ground staff...
The lounge staff has lost their jobs. Very sad. Ground staff is different: one will go to SFO, one to EWR, one will continue at T1, the rest….I do not know.

Aww man, that is so sad to hear. I really hoped for a better outcome, especially since they were so great. I hate it when businesses make decisions like that just based on numbers, ignoring these human and personality factors that made them so great. I think it's fair to assume that JFK just went from one, if not the best LX outstation, to LH hosted mediocracy, all in the name of synergies. Bleh.

The HON/F floor at the LH lounge in T1 is now supposedly open. Will be interesting to see how it works once LH brings back F to JFK.

And the LX website says now correctly that the F-lounge of LH will be open at T1. On days with the early flight LX17 it is open from 12:30 p.m. and on other days at 4 p.m. only. So it is really targeted to Swiss, as LH has no flights with F to JFK so far.

Which means they don't open it only for HONs that travel on the F-less Lufthansa flights, right?

LH seems to re-introduce F class for the summer schedule, so let's see how that will work out.

EDIT: if all the Star Alliance pax flying from T1 get access to the LH lounge, a crowded place it will be (sample for a random day in May 2022):

VIP One was offered yesterday when I was there, staff brought me through tsa and security and helped with my bags through screening all the way to the lounge. First class LH floor was opened, menu attached … I did not eat however; staff was attentive. I was the only one when I was there. Business class floor and SEN floor both were very empty. I was escorted to the gate from lounge all the way to aircraft door. BTW, I recognized a couple of staff from former T4 lounge working in this lounge. I think it was an atypical day, even T1 security was quite empty. I was on LX17. I think I was just lucky.

i can confirm everything from my stay on Monday incl.the limited menu. There were five people at the F floor, all of them for the early LX17 flight. The F-floor of the lounge was open even before 12:30h. The flight had only 55 passengers (5F/20C/30Y). Escorts both through security via VIP ONE (security in general was very full) and later to the gate for pre-boarding was effective and helpful.
Staff is still afraid of the days to come, when there will be daily 3 flights of LX and maybe one to FRA with F service + HONs. The restaurant part of the F-floor has 20 seats only.

Just to add to the last post, note that during the summer schedule pre-covid there were 2 daily LH flights with F to FRA (in the winter it was 1) and at different points flights to MUC also had F so you’re looking at 5+ daily flights with F during certain periods. This is without counting the HONs who aren’t in F or on LHG flights that don’t have F (eg SN, OS).

In terms of seating, there is very little besides the tables in the dining area (they have a couple couches closer to the entry of the floor by the drinks area) so expect to stay at the dining table for the duration of the stay (or walk down to the SEN floor). It should be interesting.

that would have been good news, but I doubt that. At least the staff on Monday did not know about it. And I talked to the former LX station manager. She told me that the LX-lounge staff have a temporary job in T4, but do not know about the future.

HI All,

This is a little bit late. Here is my report. I flew from JFK on 16 FEB with LX23 to GVA. Total disappointment with LH handling of the LX First class at the airport. We arrived to the airport around 17.30 for 19.25 departure. Unusually early for First Class, but I wanted to have some time for unexpected issues with COVID-related document check. My wife and I were already pre-OK'ed but kids boarding passes were not.

As you can see in the attached pictures there was NO ONE at the two First class desks for nearly 20 minutes. There was one couple in front of us and later on board , there was another couple. So in total we were three groups of First class passengers. The business class check-in had one agent desk open. So in total there (!!) desks for C &F. It took us nearly half hour in check-in line. After 20 minutes of waiting the lone business class agent came to us on the First class/Sen/Hon waiting line and asked quite pretentiously and loudly if we ALL are flying in Frist. We (the couple in front of us and me) said yes So she took them and then us. It was quite uncomfortable as business class line was so long that it was going out of the zig-zag and everyone was starring at us angrily. By the time of waiting we were done with check-in after 18.00 and the One VIP security area was already closed. So the agent took us through the regular line, even though we had pre-check. She said that we 'all' arrived at the same time and they were not ready for us. That was she literally said that ... and we did not even ask or mentioned anything.

The menu at the lounge was the same, as the picture in the earlier posit. Two notes: the Cesar Salad had actually NO Romain lettuce. The short ribs weren't actually ribs, but some type of steak cut in strips. Nothing exciting and again disappointing. The selection of wine & spirits is OK. It looked, by the display that more, at least spirits, were left form pre-pandemic area. Definitely, the lounge staff was not LX.

The agent offered us escort to the gate. We asked her twice if she is sure she will be able to do it. You probably guessed by now... no one shoed up. We walked to the gate, which was. totally fine!

Bathrooms on Sen floor were quite dirty and smelly.

The flight was delayed by around 40 minutes due to slow loading of luggage. Even the captain came and plainly explained that there was enough ground staff and loading takes longer every day since they moved.

That's my report. A rude awaking. No more flying in LX First style at JFK. I am beyond disappointed and sad.

Lukasz
