Is SEN E still a one class lounge? Flying business ZRH-YUL in 4 weeks and would love to try whiskey bar (if open). Thanks!

Spoke to one of the lounge receptionists this week and he said that they had been told that the lounges in D would not reopen until 2023 due to renovationa.

2023? Wow, they seem to be taking their sweet time. I won't be connecting to non-Schengen at ZRH in the meantime.

Most Non-Schengen destinations get to use the E terminal.

D is mostly for charter flights or run-down destinations like Eastern Europe or the UK

If you're flying long haul Ex-ZRH, you'll almost always use E gates.

Plus, you can just schedule some extra minutes when connecting from A or E to D gates, and still use the lounges. If you're not allowed to enter Schengen, you can still shuttle between D and E even on a D->D connection (those must be rare, anyway)

That's exactly where I tend to fly when I connect in ZRH The last couple of times I went to the A lounge before moving on to D, but I never feel 100% relaxed in such situations because there can always be a random spike of passengers at passport control. I was really hoping D lounges would reopen by spring.

Not sure how it can take that long given that they are not that big really.

Also why didn't they do during covid?

Pretty sure spending money on lounge upgrades in 2020 and 2021, when no one knew that air travel WOULD eventually pick up in spring 2022 after the mild omicron variant made a full endemic contamination possible, would not have been seen as a very smart idea.

Swiss construction works have always been very... methodical.

I know of a 200m stretch of road in Geneva which required 3+ years of work to... add a cycling lane.

No, E is back to normal operation with separate C, SEN, and F lounges. You will need SEN or *G status to access the SEN lounge.

If you’re flying J and have access to the business lounge, and one person out of three on your ticket is *G, would everyone be allowed into the SEN lounge, or would it just be 1+1?
