Partial grounding of A220 fleet

It seems that LX is currently partially grounding their A220 fleet for engine checks. After another irregularity on a flight from LHR to GVA (LX359) they decided this.

Yes - doesn't look good if you want to fly Swiss from GVA today: https://www.gva.ch/fr/Site/Passagers...&airline=SWISS

According to Bloomberg it's not a partial grounding, but a full grounding.

It became a full grounding in the meantime! All A220 engines will be checked and if considered good, the planes will go back in the air. This check takes 3-5 hours per A220.

Are other carriers grounding their A220s?

OUCH. I was flying from Zurich a couple of hours ago, not on LX, and heard all of those announcements "for operational reasons...". Then, arriving at my destination, I saw an LX CS3 parked on an open stand at a time when there shouldn't be any LX plane on the ground. Now I understand.

Will re-book my one CS1 flight that I have this week to another airline.

Sounds like there could be a group action for EU 261 on this one.

I disagree. If in a month they still use the A220 engines as a cause for cancellation, then you will have grounds for EU261. (A bit like the 787 issues). In the meantime for at least a week or two it is exceptional circumstances.

I'm right here in the middle of it at GVA, quite chaotic but civilized all the same. Just came in on an Air France flight. Was surprised to see all the cancellations. Thought it was the Second Grounding.

Hope this is legible. It is what they are handing out in GVA.

Wow what luck. Was on an A220 route that was eventually cancelled this morning. Guess I was one of the last that made it through. Very lucky.

Hope this doesn't extend into next week, when I do the same journey.
