Swiss Award Standby
 
So I just realized I made a dumb mistake when I booked a Swiss J Award last year through Aeroplan. I booked ORD-ZUR-VIE one way for May 27 but I didn't pay attention when I ticketed the ZUR-VIE leg and booked a 21:00 flight instead of a 1:00 pm flight and now have a 13 hour layover. So I'm trying to decide my best course of action. The 1:00 pm is still available on a saver J award. I can change through Aeroplan for $150 but I was curious if Swiss let me standby for an early flight on an award ticket. I have United Sliver if that makes a difference. Thanks.

You need to change your award. "Free same-day standby" as it is known in North America does not exist in Europe. LX will transport you as ticketed.

No chance. Only option is to rebook the ticket, unless a massive IROPS hits LX, ZRH or VIE and they need your seat on the 9pm flight. But that is very unlikely end of May and I guess not predictable at 12pm.

You might also just stay the day in ZRH and enjoy some time in the city?

That's kinda what I figured.Time to call Aeroplan. Thanks for the replies.
