ZRH layover--can leave airport, yes?

We are flying Swissair DAR--NYC, connecting in ZRH for 10+ hours. We'd like to leave the Zurich airport to visit friends. I take it from reading these meet-up threads that we can do so? Traveling on USA passports. Thanks.

Absolutely. No problem.

Not trying to be technical and picky, but Swissair ceased operations for almost 2 decades.

The airlines you are flying is Swiss International Airlines.

Definately Possible

You stated, that you are travelling on US passports.
As long, your passports are still valid for more than 90days you're totally fine to enter Switzerland.

You would need to clear security and passport control once more when entering the airport again tho.
Telling you just in case, since they have liquid limitationsfor carry on items.

Not a problem. Switzerland requires 6 month validity on passport from date of departure from Schengen for US passport holders.

I have left the airport several times.
