ZRH A Schengen lounge reopens [2018]

Finally, the new A lounges will open Monday, July 2nd. Photos from lounge opening event here: https://www.travelnews.ch/flug/9243-...ss-gaeste.html

In the new SEN lounge right now - which switched sides with the Business lounge. Design etc is very similar to the E lounge, offerings improved vs the old SEN lounge. Eggs made to order, cereal bar and (my kids will love it) an enhanced candy corner.
Still a few things missing, e.g. bowls for Museli and I didn't see any croissants this morning. Also seems that there is lots of staff around, clearing plates etc. Would be nice if this stays like this - the old A lounges where often quite messy.
Haven't looked at Silent Area and some other corners yet - but it seems to be more spacious than before; at 6:30am there is still plenty of space.

A few photos from the new SEN lounge in A

Taken this morning (02JUL18) for those who are interested. Everything except the (smokers') terrace looked open. Quiet area looked great, but there were already people chatting there. Ice cream was present!

OMG My smokers bar has become a rest area!!! And no more bringing champagne into smokers bar from the old A lounge!!!

Fabo.sk Jul 2, 2018 5:12 am

Not too bad. We did lose the longest attended lounge bar, though, as it seems.

Nice that LX got the Jean Prouvé furniture, as it did in the E lounges.

Not many will miss that horrible smoke filled space:-). It appear that there is still a "smokers terrace" - whatever this might be.

A is open. There's some confusion about access rules.

The confusion is over, LX has fixed the descriptions:

Rules are like before the lounges closed for renovations.

And I can now ifficually confirm the access rules have not changed! FTL still gets Business Lounge access and *G still get SEN Lounge access.

Enjoying breakfast in the new SEN lounge!

I’m a fan if the new silent area where the long bar used to be!

And YuropFlyer gets to keep his car ;)

Should we make a dedicated feedback channel?

Hope for your sake it’s better than FCL A which was not worth any wait.....

In the new SEN lounge right now. There are some pics in the merged ZRH lounge thread.

I’m absolutely in love with the new silent srea.
There are some small thinngs that need improvement but I’m already a big fan. Huge improvement.

I will only get to check it out next week, but assume the new SEN lounge must be a huge improvement. F and SEN started out from two totally different situations: The old F lounge was nice, bright and had a view, unlike the new one. The old SEN lounge was essentially a crowded dump and it would have been difficult not to improve it ;)

Looks great, better than anything the new FCL has to offer.

What are the things you would consider in need of improvement?

Been to the new SEN *Gold lounge in A yesterday. Yes, it is an improvement, at least in some areas. I generally find the seating arrangement nice an more practical. Also the toilets are more spacious. The food options are much better, there is now some healthier options like meat or salad and not only carbs. On the downside, both the white and red wine selection is outright poor. They only offered some very poor quality Swiss wines ("Gamay de Valais", "Vins de Pays de Vaud") ...

There was too much used plates and glasses lying around, the service agent was collecting them as fast as possible but there were only two of them.
A solution for this would be to set up an area where you can put your used plates so they don't clog up the seating area. Sure, not everybody would do this, but I for example do this every time and normally just leave it on the trolley of the service agent, since there is no other place to put it. I think a lot of the Lounge users would do the same, hence the problem would solve itself.

Another thing: The lounge was rather full (every second seat taken), but the silent area was empty, so keep this in mind when searching for a place to sit.

I'm currently stuck in the FRA Business Lounge and what a downgrade to the Business / Sen lounge in ZRH that is (Business lounge in ZRH is pretty much the SEN lounge mirrored), I shiver by the thought of having to stay here in FRA for 5 hours.
