If you are in Zurich and would like to join a meetup: Coordinate with the user having the layover via pm. If there are already users meeting up with the traveler don't worry: In that case you'll just have to coordinate with more people. Finally make sure to add your name next to Meeting up with:!
If you are having a layover in Zurich and would like to start a meetup: Just add your data into the wiki or comment the data on this thread and it will be added for you.

The ZRH long layover meetup thread

Hello forum of wonderful people

Yuropflyer and me recently just met up with Sushimaru, who had a night layover in Zurich. It was great and we all very much enjoyed talking with each other, exchanging travel stories and experiences. We basically had a really nice time.

So I had an idea: Why not make a thread where people who have a long layover in Zurich can ask if any Zurich or even Switzerland based people would like to meet up for a drink during that layover? Maybe only have a drink, maybe even have some food and show them some small part of Switzerland, but most importantly get to talk with each other and sozialize!

Example: If you arrive at around 5pm in Zurich and your connecting flight only departs the next day normally you'd just get to your hotel, maybe have some dinner and then call it a day. Lame.
So why not meet up with some local FTlers who will take you to a nice bar or restaurant where you'll have a nice time socialising and talking to each other AND get to see some more of Switzerland other than the Transit Hotel. That's like having the money AND the cake! (Schoggistängeli und s Weggli)!

Obviously it'll be challenging for some of us on here who are really busy to find some time, especially on weekdays, but I think with enough advance planning even us very busy people could make it work. I'd certainly be up for it. I mean it'd be a Win-Win for all of us!

So, what do YOU think? Let me know if you think the idea's great! Or if you think I'm an idiot you can tell me that too!
I'm looking forward to your feedback on this idea!

Cheers

Nick

Overnight layover in ZRH does not happen to me often, only once so far this year, but still a great initiative by our friendly Swiss FTs. ^

I like the idea. I'll keep in mind when LX with a long transfer in ZRH happens to be a viable option for me

Hey guys! Thanks for the very nice feedback!
I have messaged the m6m moderators and asked them to turn this post into a sticky wiki in which we then can list the poeple who would be happy to meet up and the dates on which they would have the layover here in ZRH. I'm hoping to hear back from them soon.

In the meantime I already see we have two volunteers who kindly provided their travel dates and times! I'm sure we'll be able to arrange something! (I'm listing them in the main pos for the meantime).

I can already say on 12 August I will be most certainly away, but next sunday I'll be arriving in the afternooon at around 15:00 coming from MUC, so I'm sure we could arrange something there!

And for those who are timing their layover perfectly, there is also the "Stammtisch" of frequent fliers: Zurich Stammtisch / regular table
