Fellow M&M specialists,

Need to fly from GVA to YEG (Edmonton, Canada) departing arround April 10, return arround May 20, 2 people travelling for way in, and 2 + 1 baby for way back.
Am now regular M&M Swiss member and have 60k miles arriving to expiration on june 30. total miles available 110k.
would like to fly in C both ways. or at least one way.
return date has to be changeble since do not know exactely when able to fly back.

so.. should I book a paid tix in C + free seat using miles (105k). can I add the ticket for baby once first section of trip done ? can I add baby to free seat or only to paid ticket? if return date need to be changed, will the free tix allow for a last minute change?

or.. should I book 2 eco-class tickets and then upgrade it (in this case which class to choose ?) Y, B, N ? (is N upgradable?) If I change the return ticket upgraded with miles, will miles go back to account? Or will upgrade be automatically applied to a ticket change?

which solution would be most economical ?

route options are LH/AC (GVA-FRA(MUC)-YYZ(YUL)-YEG)
LX/AC (GVA-ZRH-YUL-YEG)
AC (GVA-YUL-YEG) = prefered.

I would probably get a M&M cc to avoid expiraton instead.
Awards works best when you havw fixed agenda and a bit of flexibility.
Buying upgradeable booking classes can be more expensive than buying C straigt away.
