Two bookings on the same flight
Hello LX forum,
I'm afraid I messed up and I would like to hear your opinion on what is the best way to proceed. I have a reservation MUC-ZRH-LUG-ZRH-MUC in Economy Light. My travel plans have changed and I need to go to AMS instead, so I stupidly booked LUG-ZRH-AMS instead of simply ZRH-AMS and ditching the ZRH-MUC segment. So basically I am booked twice on LUG-ZRH, and on the same flight. Is there a risk that either reservation will be invalidated before flying? I was thinking of flying MUC-ZRH-LUG and then cancelling the rest of the ticket (I don't think I would end up paying anything, and even if I am I'll chalk it up to my sillyness), so that LUG-ZRH-AMS is a "clean" reservation. Do you see any problems with my plan? Thank you! |
LX revenue protection will locate the duplicate, put a dupe check note in both, and place it in a queue to the issuing office asking to contact you within 24-48h to clarify which ticket you intend to take.

You should call LX. One booking has:
Code:
14 SSR OTHS 1A CLEAR DUPE BY FRA1959/23NOV16 OR LX WILL Code:
9 SSR OTHS 1A CLEAR DUPE BY ZRH1959/23NOV16 OR LX WILL |

Curious how LX handles these. I called LX this morning and it was the South African call centre. At first I asked the agent to simply cancel the return portion of the first ticket, but she said that no changes were permitted and she couldn't turn the booking into a one-way. Then I explained my problem and she put me on hold, and when she came back she told me that a note has been put in the booking saying that the passenger won't travel the return portion. I asked whether I might find surprises at the airport, and she said "It shouldn't be a problem", which I suppose it's as far as she is allowed to go. I am not particularly reassured, but at least I did my part. I'll update after travel. |
Now they have added the following:
Code:
19 SSR OTHS 1A IGNORE DUPE SEGMENT LX1234K03mmm16 |
Thank you for checking Oliver!
I must say the South African call centre never disappoints, whether LH, LX, or M&M. Always nice, friendly, and well prepared. |
