Really Impressed with Swiss Business
Hello All,
I recently flew LX138 from ZRH to HKG in J on the B77W and was extremely impressed. The hard product (if you can get the "throne" seat) is second to none and the soft product is quite nice as well. An earlier leg, LX53 from BOS to ZRH on the A343, was not bad either, though obviously the seat is in need of an update. Once the new J cabin is rolled out across the fleet, LX will have an industry-leading J product IMO. Cheers, CD |
that's good. Maybe try to fly on an Asian airline, or MEA someday....

I completely agree, and I haven't been on the 777 yet. Swiss Business is, hands-down, one of the best premium products out there. The only other thing that comes close for me is Air New Zealand's Business Premier. I will be trying out the Swiss 777 in First next month from LAX - ZRH, and I simply cannot wait!

SWISS is generally good and consistent in terms of service.
MEA airlines, I tried EK, EY both in First and QR in Business. Had bad experience on both EK and EY, they literally ran out of food on ultra long haul (I told the crew I would sleep first then eat, but when woke up still 5 hrs to go I tired to order from the menu they told me they ran out of almost all items and only had eggs and bread left). Service on EK was ok, on EY was not good at all (crew not responsive, i.e. took too long like 45 mins to bring me tea and water). QR I had good experience both hard and soft products definitely much much better experience than EK/Y F. Asian carriers, depends, for CX, SQ, NH and OZ, my experiences have been very good consistently. Oh NZ is also great. TG and JL is not bad, but not always consistent. KE crew not too responsive. Mainland Chineses carriers are hmmm ... no comments. |

Great to hear that my former home carrier is terrible for only 80% of the passengers ^ !

What new J cabin? The 77W J is just a minor update, the A330/340 is the 'new' product which was rolled out 2009-12 with no updates planned till 2020.
I thought I read somewhere that the A330/340 were getting refurbished to match those seats found on the B77W, but I guess I was wrong.

I wanted to ask. There is really nothing special. Narrow seats, ok food, etc. The service is good but have seen much better

No info so far concerning the A330. |

AC and UA, but my comments were also informed by recent flights on LH.
Try SQ or NH, then come back here to tell us your impression ;) |

Haven't flown the MEA carriers, but have flown SQ, NH, and CX in J with some regularity. Based on my latest experiences on LX, I would say Swiss compares pretty well against all 3, especially if you are seated in one of the single throne seats on the 77W.

The 6 remaining A340 will be refurbished starting 2017.
No info so far concerning the A330. SAS and others are using the Vantage XL seat for a 1-2-1 config, and it looks like LH Group will get a seat like that in the next round slated for 2020. So designing/specifying/buying new seats in 2017 for 6 aircraft makes little or no sense. |

Only in F. Business will get a refurb, but most probably using the existing Thompson Vantage hardware, getting some TLC with new panels and covers.
