LX doubling down on ZRH-BOS

Confirmed this has been loaded.

Swiss will increase ZRH-BOS to 2x daily in S16. From 14 April 3 additional flights per week will be added. An 11th frequency will be added starting 3 May 2016 and on 26 May the route will go 14 weekly. The additional flight LX54/55 will have the following schedule

LX54 ZRH-BOS 1255 - 1520LT
LX55 BOS-ZRH 1700 - 0615

Anyone in the know have an idea what is going on? Is it summer only?

I know the 77W's coming in made some A330's available and BOS performs well.

I'm surprised they didn't try a *A hub instead (IAH/DEN)
Also - Too bad they didn't take a shot at BOS-GVA even if it was 4 weekly with the other 3x going to ZRH!

Must be summer only, especially since LH historically cuts down to 1x daily to FRA during much of October-March/April. Can't really see 2x to ZRH at the same time as 1x to FRA, but 2xFRA/2xZRH/1xMUC in summer is definitely possible, even with the EK announcement of their second flight as well. Just wondering where Massport will park all of the planes .

Don't forget TK also started BOS recently. Also some Asian carriers and WOW. Terminal E is getting really tight.

It is not getting tight. It is overcrowded. Every late afternoon, early evening you'll see long haul planes parked away from terminal, waiting for passenger loading and departure.

I can only hope so. Boston used to be right in line with ORD and NYC for cheap TATL travel and has gotten quite a bit more expensive. I found it even cheaper to fly to Maine airports then to BOS recently.

Actually, I don't see a problem with BOS. There are plenty of cheap C class tickets under one condition.
Flying whichever airline meets your schedule and is within the right price.

It is amazing how cheap can I find business class tickets when not being strangled by airline loyalty

On the economy ticket end - I would expect to see some (not all and mostly Scandinavian) destinations softer with the arrival of DY into BOS and there's a very strong rumor Eurowings (part of LH group) will be flying CGN-BOS next summer: probably 2-4 weekly.

DY's connections aren't the greatest from BOS-CPH/LGW/ARN but connections in CGN could be good. Is this really a good strategy for LH group to aim for the bottom of the barrel?

I didn't have the pleasure to fly via Iceland Air yet, but it is definitely in my plans. So far had really great fares with BA and VS(TATL)/BA(intra EU).

Got a really great deal on all BA trip EU-BOS-TYO-EU, was 2k less then NYC or ORD. ^

Sadly, the runways at BOS cannot handle A380 in the foreseeable future.

LX also has been running a second frequency on the ZRH-ORD citypair for a couple of summers. IME one of the easier flights for a TATL premium award.

Seems that SAS is ready to join the Boston party as well, with the reconfigured 737 from CPH.
