Exploding? Meh.
From a very small base. 18th busiest airport in the US and far lower internationally.

Exactly. If you start from a small base, adding only a few extra flights will easily increase capacity double digits. And where are these double digits pax increases come from? No more connecting via JFK?

Here are the international destination adds to BOS since 2012. 2014-2016 had huge increases. I count LGW as a destination add though LHR is already served. This doesn't include increases or adds by LH group, DL, FI, EI, WW and B6 to already served destinations over the past few seasons. Also EK doubled down in October 2015.

The only losses during this time was AA dropping LHR with BA picking up some of it and TACV moving their operation to PVD.

2014 and 2015 were really Asia driven - 2016 will be transatlantic driven (and mostly low cost since a good portion comes from DY and EW)

2012: NRT, GCM
2013: PTY
2014: DXB, IST, PEK, LIR, UVF, POP
2015: HKG, PVG, MEX, TLV, BGI, PAP, FDF, PTP
2016: DOH, OSL, CPH, LGW, CGN, and possible ORK on DY if DOT approved NAI's operating certificate.
