LX operated by EDELWEISS AIR
Hello,
I'll be returning from ZRH to TLV in June. I've noticed that the flight (LX 254) is marked as "Operated by EDELWEISS AIR" - what does that mean? Are they the same LX planes? is there a difference in the miles accumulated on these flights? Thank you |
It seems you will have an Edelweiss A333, an not an LX A333:
http://www.edelweissair.ch/en/aboard/ As the flight number is LX254, it is an LX wetlease flight, so you should get the miles according the booking class you have booked. |
That is what I thought (and I hope), but according to the miles and more in Lufthansa I should get status miles, but when I check the lufthansa site for this flight it doesn't show these miles in the calculated miles I get for these flight (get only the TLV-ZRH miles which are operated by Swiss)
|
the aircraft is LX not Edelweiss the usual LX seating
|
How do you know it is the same seating? According to the Swiss site it is operated by Edelweiss and it is A330-200
|
OK maybe we should create a wiki entry or something because this questions seems to pop up fairly often...
Since LX has no spare aircraft in case of mx, they sometimes use WK (Edelweiss) aircraft to operate on their routes; if that happens, nothing regarding mileage accrual will change! Btw, the OP is lucky, SWISS used to put A321 on this flight to TLV, so an Edelweiss A330 is much better! |

As I already wrote, flight number LX254 is a wetlease, so you will get the miles. It is just the same case as when WK operates ZRH-HAM or so for LX. Forget about what the lufthansa site shows you about mileage in this case. |
In August Edelweis is flying to Tokyo for LX:
17:10 ZRH - 12:00 +1 NRT LX 8946 Operated by EDELWEISS AIR What would I have to expect mileage-wise? Edelweiss doesn't seem to be a partner of M&M... HTB. |

Wrong!
LX is offering these flights under LX numbers and my question doesn't change over it: What would I have to expect mileage-wise? Edelweiss doesn't seem to be a partner of M&M... HTB. |
According to the M&M homepage: no miles.
LX8946 is outside the ranges of LX codeshare numbers which give mileage credit (award miles). |

I'm quite sure you are right, though. HTB. |

That's a technicality, and I don't think it earns the label "Wrong!"
LX is offering these flights under LX numbers and my question doesn't change over it: It's different than for exampe LX14 that is a LX flight and operated by WK... |

It's wrong to write that 'Edelweis is flying to Tokyo for LX'. Edelweiss flies by it's own to NRT and LX got some codeshare seats on the WK flight...
It's different than for exampe LX14 that is a LX flight and operated by WK... It's a real shame that customers are supposed to know that you might get miles with two/three digit LX flight numbers operated by Edelweiss but might not for four digit flight numbers operated by Edelweiss. But informing customers has always been taking a back seat with Miles&More. The less they know the better. HTB. |
