That’s understandable. But the glass in the picture, full of freshly filtered cabin air, doesn’t leave a great impression.

Apr 3, LX86 (ZRH–YUL) F lunch & anytime snack

<Menu>

<Food pics>
Ok, so I ended up having 4 out of 5 first course menus, heh. I think part of it has to do with the fact that there were only two people in F, myself and someone else.
"Hmm, I like seafood, so I will grab prawns and pikeperch"
"What about Balik salmon? they are good"
"Oh, I can order more than one first course?"
"Almost anything is possible in First~"
"Sure, salmon as well!"
"Would you like soup and salad between your first two first courses and the main?"
"Oh wow... sure why not"

(Pre-)first course: Amuse-bouche

First course(s): Salmon, prawn, soup, salad

Main course: Pikeperch

After the main course, was too full to continue, so I napped for a bit and then grabbed the cheese plate and the dessert

<Anytime Snack>

Picked orecchiette

And after the snack, I was offered to pick a dessert – the pear tart looked interesting especially with its German name printed in the menu and whatnot – so I went with that one.

After this flight, I had to wait for 5.5 hours in YUL for the Air Canada flight back to YHZ. But since I ate so much during this flight, I didn't have to eat for the rest of the day.

Just flew TATL ex ZRH in J. The asparagus starter was great. It nicely replaces the salmon that was served until recently (and which was good too).

Still looks much better than anything posted here re LH C short or long haul.

That 5th course "special" sausage looks mightily unappetizing to me and nothing that I would consider serving/eating as a main course in F. Other than that, I still have faith that LX catering will outshine LH's.

Oh yes, I was also told of that veal sausage that's not in the menu but is nonetheless being offered (fifth main course, indeed). But I was also told the portion is pretty small. Since I wanted to have a more filling main course and felt like having seafood, I went for the pikeperch.
Agreed that the meal looks pretty basic for F – think I dodged the bullet.

Great report, thank you!

Most of us here would agree that it is the rule rather than the exception to order more than one first course. To be honest, I always (!) order all of the first courses on the menu when flying LH/LX F, as they are often better than the mains.

And since you said you were looking for a filling main: Particularly on flights with light loads, like yours, I sometimes order one main and politely mention that I would be happy to have one of the others on top, if they happen to have some left over after asking all the other passengers. The crew has always been happy to serve me a second main course in such situations.
