Like many things that seem to go wrong in the way SWISS is being managed lately, simply someone messed up with the logistics and that's why they ran out of Champagne.

That is bad news, last week they still had champagne in short haul C. Their website promises champagne so clearly a case of non-performance and money back

Whoever is the CPO at LH group does a very bad job when it comes to sourcing Champagne as we keep hearing the word shortage. First in the FCT, now on LX short-haul C. What's next? And I am not even mentioning the cheap stuff he buys for its LH F pax.

Only picking a couple to quote …. I read today that there is a shortage on champagne, hence LX has TEMPORARILY switched to sparkling wine, and champagne will return again on short-haul routes. Long-haul routes should not be affected and still serve champagne. I’ll try and dig out the article.

I will make sure the MdC makes a report. But then again, some of my upcoming LX J short-haul is operated by Helvetic and Air Baltic, not sure how much LX cares about feedback we give to them.

The traditional French house Duval-Leroy, founded in 1859, describes its Cuvée Brut Réserve as developing "aromas of dark chocolate, cinnamon, and roasted yellow figs" and as lying "perfectly between delicacy and power. Swiss serves this fine champagne to business class passengers on European routes. In stores, the bottle costs around 40 euros.
But anyone traveling with the Lufthansa subsidiary these days and in the coming weeks will not be served Duval-Leroy Cuvée Brut Réserve. Instead of Champagne, Swiss is serving a sparkling wine, Baccarat Brut Blanc de Blancs from the Swiss producer La Cave de Genève. It has won several awards, but costs less than half of the drop served so far.
Manufacturer cannot deliver enough
Swiss explains that this is by no means a cost-cutting measure. The reason for the change is "supply bottlenecks on the part of our long-standing and valued partner Duval-Leroy." "As soon as the delivery capacity is guaranteed again, we will offer the champagne on our short-haul flights again," a spokesman said. There will be no temporary change on long-haul flights, where Duval-Leroy Brut will continue to be served, he added.

Duval-Leroy must have been over-expanding their commercial business for airline customers. In the past few months, I keep seeing this brand while traveling. It is ubiquitous on AF in J and at the AF J salons at CDG and also on a couple of other airlines in J in the past few months. I'm not a big fan, but it's fine. I'll be on LX J ATH-ZRH in late April and wonder which will be poured by then...

Well they’re managing to serve full bottles of the foul Swiss sparkling on shorthaul. MdC also told me it’s a 3 month test phase, she said they are embarrassed and are constantly dealing with upset pax about it.
