Unlike raclette which requires a grill (or, even better, an open fire), fondue does not require any particular type of heat source. Accordingly, there is no reason for a fondue to be bad on a plane; only the cheese mixture/spicing/herbs are relevant. The only issue that I see is that, without constant heating, the fondue will become cold and chewy after 2-3 minutes. Accordingly, once the fondue leaves the galley, it has a very short life. Hence the serving must be small and the container holding the fondue on the tray delivered to the passenger should be warmed up.
I never tried it on a plane, but would be interested to taste it too.
The damned noise of LX's 773s should take care of the odours.

You guys... in just a handful of posts... have managed to turn my joyful excitement into a sinister dread (I am horrified by the mere thought of fondue smell)
Please... tell me it's not served in November?!?
Please... tell me they developped a scientifically odourless recipe?!?

Not the best cheese fondue in the world, but the best (and only) cheese fondue I ever had on a plane.

Does anyone know who in Switzerland sells the South African Red - Hartenberg "the Mckenzie" - that is currently served in F? Apparently it is not from Kapweine.ch, my first suspect and I only find shops in EU which is a pain with customs....

Was it good?
Have a number of LX flights coming up and found it odd that two of the three reds are Bordeaux style, as they are not my favorite.

I loved it and after lots of not so great SA wine in Tanzania it restored my appreciation for SA winemaking...but tastes differ ;-) - just give it a try. LX FA's will be happy to provide you with a full tasting of what is loaded, incl. the C selection.
