Probably.

But we do not have to bother Chris63 or his PA. A brief message to LX does the trick.

Here is the menu in First from ZRH-LAX from last week. They also had a sausage not on the menu. The Bison was pretty good.

And the cheese from ZRH-LAX

And the menu from ORD-ZRH. As the canton of the quarter is Zurich, they also had kalb geschnetzeltes.

And the ORD-ZRH cheese list

The white wines were quite underwhelming this rotation

And the reds.

FWIW, the larger one (in the middle) was the least exciting for my [unrefined] palate

wow -did they give you all 3 tins or was this a staged photo??

How many grams each tin approximately?

Lol the photo wasn’t staged at all, you get all three and they were very generous. I didn’t check but looking back at the photos a year on they could have been 30g? Especially the middle one. I’ll be doing it again in early June this year so can report back.

Yes you get all 3 - it is a tasting where you should be able to compare them.
Swiss is investing a lot in the connaisseure events.
e.g. for the truffel weeks last year they ordered 18kg white Alba truffels. (1kg costs around EUR 4000,-)

Im flying Zurich to Johannesberg in a few weeks in business. I mostly travel Asia so this will be my first flight on Swiss in many years and I have what may be a stupid question. I see a la cart dining as an option (which I assume is a lot like book the cook on singapore), but when I pull up my record it says not available on this route. Is this accurate or am I looking at it incorrectly, seems a long flight out of zurich would have it available. I am connecting from paris first so thinking maybe that segment is making the option to select a meal greyed out as Im sure its not available on that flight, but cant imagine it's not on the flight to SA

Thanks!

I flew ZRH-JNB in business in December (menu in post 588) and did not notice any a la carte dining option. The only a la carte meal option I can find on swiss.com is for economy passengers. Where did you see there is an a la carte dining option in business?

As you know it’s a late night departure and in order to maximise sleep time I chose the quicker option.

That your flight is inbound unfortunately guarantees for a inferior catering experience which can vary from location to absolutely desasterous to ok. For sure you will have the Balik Salmon which is a highlight however for the other meal items keep the expectations rather low.
