Force search refresh?
 

Hi folks,

Is there some way to force the search to discard a cached search and generate a new one?

The use case is this. I regularly use the "My Threads" quick link, which is:
This link redirects to a generated search with a search id number - currently:
Which is currently 54 minutes old:
However, in the last 54 minutes I've created say three threads, and those threads don't show up on this search because they didn't exist when it was created! If I had a button I could click to say "generate new search", I could click that once, and have all subsequent requests use the cache of the newly generated search. If you're worried about DOS type attacks, simply limit the use of the generate new search function to something reasonable (once a minute or even once every five minutes) as you have with the normal search function - this is a good approach that I heartily commend.

When using your first link I was redirected to a page with a new search ID and with up to the date content(1 minute old). Your browser may be caching the redirect to an old search ID(try quitting your browser and using the link again). There is, currently, no feature to enable the refreshing of search but we will consider your request.

Thanks for the reply. I'm fairly sure it's not a browser thing. I forgot to add that the search seems to be recreated "automatically" after something like 90-120 minutes (I've never actually timed it). So the reason you got a fresh search was because it was "old enough". Am glad that you will consider the request:-)
