The above snide comment about another members posting habits is a prime example of why post counts (and the asinine Evangelist and Legend Designations) should be eliminated.

4,950 thank you very much.

But many of those don't count, since it was in OMNI, and it didn't update my post count.

You should try it, I met some FTer that participate in it this weekend

We have invited you to join the game. This is a truly addictive thread. Come and join in the fun and I am sure you will add a post or 2. Come and see what we mean. :)

I have personally invited ozstamps to post in that thread and, as far as I know, we get along just fine and have always done so.

He does not have to post to that thread if he does not want to do so, and that is his choice — but the personal invitation is always open to you, ozstamps, as you are always welcome to join in...

...oh, and by the way — I don’t care either way about the milepost count, as I publicly stated more than once that it simply does not matter to me.

If this feature is eliminated, that is fine with me...

I don't think eliminating post counts is a good idea at all. While not telling everything about another member, it does tell us something.

One example, as moderators, we often come across spammers who register on FT to peddle their wares, post links to their porn site, or whatever. The low post count gives us a clue as to what they are doing on FT, enabling us to quickly come to the decision to pull the plug and delete all the posts.

Just trying to get another member addicted to our fun. :D

I do not want post counts removed for the reason eloquently stated by gleff. In the past two days, I have responded to three posters on their first or second post specifically because they are brand new to FlyerTalk. We need to welcome newcomers, not immediately barrage them with nitpicks on the information they provide - and without that post count, I'd have no reason to believe they are new.
