More bandwidth needed

I am often unable to connect. More bandwidth would certainly help!

Bandwidth is not the problem... See the thread in Technical Support,... taking forever for Tribal Fusion to load.

FT seems to think the problem is limited to a very few, but it appears the problem is more far spread they will admit and I think it is going to get worse as most people don't take the time to complain or never make it to the point where they can complain.

While I'm sure you are very knowledgeable in IT this weekends problems are not related to Tribalfusion. I block all requests to their domains and the site is still slow, so it's obviously a different problem.

Same goes here... I've just blocked all requests for Tribalfusion a few hours ago and am still experiencing the same lag. No change in performance.

aloha

Blocking TF alone is not enough... but there is not much more one can do (at least that I know of at the moment).

Sure, there may be other problems! I am not at the FT server end so I really can't tell. However, I do know that some ISPs have blocked some TF services but I don't know enough to elaberate. Some of the TF adds lead to one becoming locked out of getting back to the original webpage, so some ISPs have had this reported and there is now some traffic blocking going on.

I would spend more time tryinig to solve the problem but it seems the people at FT just get more upset with me when I try to help so I am bowing out. This will be my final post on FT unless they decide I am actually helping.

We had some access log problems on the FT servers this weekend, which was the probable cause of the slowdown. Sorry about that... it should be back to normal now.

I think it was a problem with the dohickey and thingamabob.

1k650 Aug 9, 2004 11:41 pm

Yes, it is much better now.

Excellent diagnosis.

Perhaps I can bring you onto my IT team, we've had some serious problems with our CRM system at work... any ideas? (To pre-empt, I've had our tech folks check the dohickey and the thingamabob and both return FOO BAR but they tell me that's not the problem.)

If it includes lots of free travel I am there. :D

What is Tribal Fusion, ands do regular users need to block whatever it is?

choster Aug 18, 2004 9:35 am

Tribal Fusion is the company which delivers and manages the ads on FT. Since this is income for FT, do not block it unless it is causing a serious problem.

Network latency, your corporate firewall or proxy server, your personal firewall or filtering software, or other factors can sometimes prevent the ads from being loaded, which in turn for a few may cause FT to be inaccessible or extremely slow to load.

ozstamps Aug 18, 2004 9:40 am

choster - thank you. ^

I agree the ads are there for a reason, and I do not object to them, now the size of them got reduced. If it does not slow my FT, I am happy to leave them up.

I very often get pop-ups for some kind of annoying quiz called "tickles" or something, and think that is connected with FT. Wish I could block just THAT! Sooooo annoying.
