Instant Messaging?
 

This might not be possible, but is there a way to IM someone who's on at the same time? There have been a few times I needed a quick answer to something & it would have been faster than sending a PM.

If the option currently exists & I'm not aware of it, could you tell me how to do it?

If it doesn't exist, could you add it to the list of things to be considered? Thx.

Members can add their IM client accounts to their profile, but if you PM then they also instantly get an alert telling them there is a message for them, that should be almost as fast as IM.

Yes & no Scott. They still have to go to PM, get the message, respond to the message & then have that person then go to PM, get the response & respond to the respond. I'm really looking more for an IM thing, where you don't have to go through those extra steps.

Guess it might (under the system you outlined above) require me to go to everyone's profile to see if they filled it out (including IM) & do it that way. That's ok; heck I had to register them under my current AOL stuff as a buddy (so once I figure it out, I can add them); this isn't that different.


But under the new system, so many folk haven't personalized anything cuz they're still trying to figure it out, that perhaps TalkMail can add that as a thing to do - ie, figure out myflyertalk, do your profiles, etc, etc. I know they have - but a lot of folk were still dealing w/ the hey it's so slow when it first came up syndrome.

There's not a workable IM system in place with vBB, other than what ScottC suggested above (a quasi IM/PM thing). If vBB comes up with something decent, we may implement it.

In the meantime, I'd stick to the current ones out there, even though they aren't tied directly into FT.

Sigh - thanks Dan/Scott, even if not answer I was hoping for. BTW - at some point could you add that to a talk mail or flyertalk email/instruction
