Spell Checker needed

Available? Us poor spellers and typo masters sure need it.

If you are using Internet Explorer you might want to look into this:

Here's how to do spell checking in Apple's Safari Browser:

Go to the Edit menu and navigate to the Spelling sub-menu. Here you can invoke the spell checker as needed using the command+; keystroke combination. But even better, you can turn on permanent spell checking capabilities with the 'Check Spelling as You Type' menu item.

Note: If these menu items are grayed-out and not selectable, then you need to go to a page with a form and put the cursor into a text area of the form and then turn on the 'Check Spelling as You Type' menu item.

Now every text area on each web page within your browser will be spell check enabled. You will see a curly red line underneath each word that the OS X spell checker does not recognize. You can then invoke the spelling options menu with command+: or use the menu option seen above.
Thanks to Eric Bailey's .Mac Blog for the instructions.

Here's the story on spell checkers. We've purposely backed away from investing and implenting them for one reason - we're told that the next generation of browsers all come with them built-in, which coincidently, is why several of the spell checkers that were previously available to plug in to bulletin boards have disappeared. I guess they could even see the handwriting - no matter how it is spelled - on the wall. I've read this in several of the pubs that keep track of these things and it's also the answer from the technology solutions like vBulletin whom we license this software from. I can see how no one would want to invest the kind of money needed to make it work well when Microsoft is right behind them. That's the news from here on this topic and if there is any change or if there is any chance we can still come up with a temporary solution which would not be throwing money out the window, we'll certainly take a chance for the short term.

Good question and one that we have constantly asked ourselves. Hope this helps understand where we are right now. Thanks again for the question.
