Travelling with pets?
There is a travelling with children forum what about travelling with pets. It takes quite some time to determine each airline's policy and many pet owners on flyertalk I am sure would be pleased to share information.
This is important when thinking about miles - for example, United will let you carry on a pet to any destination (probably except UK), American will only allow it in the US, Canada, Carib and Mexico, however if you want to use AA miles and get to Europe with your carry on pet you can do so on Finnair, Iberia or Swiss.... I'd be happy to put a few posts in to provide the information I am aware of. |
Travelling with Pets on Mexicana?
Hello,
I'm trying to fly from Leon (BJX) to Tijuana or LAX and the only airline that will allow me to take my two cats on board with me is Mexicana (Volaris and Avolar fly BJX-TIJ but force you to "check in" your pets into the cargo hold, which for obvious reasons I will not do). However, Mexicana apparently leaves it up to the pilot's discretion! On the same day of travel...max 2 pets per cabin. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to ensure that we'll get approval? I've thought of the ol' bribe tactic, but I am Mexican and know how iffy that can be in a public setting. I have the vet certificates, vaccination records, etc. I read in one of the posts about someone having to bribe a Mexican Customs official 200 (dollars?) in order to get out of some additional documentation he was demanding from the pax. Thanks in advance! Lola |
I have raised the issue of a dedicated "Travel with Pets" board twice and TalkBoard has not yet seen the wisdom behind this recommendation which would benefit many FT members. :(
