Consolidate the # of categories in this forum

It seems as if more than half of the categories under FlyerTalk Travel have less than 3 posts - i.e., they are averaging only about 1 post every other day or less. A large number of the posts do not have any responses.

I think it would be very helpful, given the # of posts, to consolidate these categories. It is very time consuming to search every one of them, and as a result most people are obviously not reading them. Why have a separate category for San Francisco and California and the West? I bet there aren't more than 1 or 2 posts per day for all three of them. And what about Orlando, Florida and the South? Same story.

There are many other examples of this. You just need to click through and see that this is not working as well as one might hope. I understand the rationale, and if there were 5-10 posts per day in each category, I would think this organization would work well. But under the circumstances, it is not necessary to divide things up so much and, as a result, discourage their use.

Thank you for your consideration.

Agreed. Much.

I also strongly agree.

I agree as well. While this seems to be a logical thing to do, the fact of the matter is, a lot of the areas are just not getting visited. I too can see why it was done this way, but with so many areas there is a chance peoples questions may never be answered.

I agree, consolidating these will allow one to visit more of the posts available and hopefully generate more posts! Thanks for the suggestion!!!

Flyertalk travel, dining, and airports all seem to be relatively short on posts and long on categories. Perhaps all of the location specific categories could be rolled together (eg. so that there is one New York board rather than a travel board, a dining board, and an airport board).
