Local times...

Would it be possible to add prefferd time in a members profile? Itīs boring to count MT US time to CET all the time, would be perfect if times showed up as local times prefferd by the user.

I prefer one time for all posts (as it is the case now)
* (if the light bulbs don't work properly) it facilitates to find recent posts not looked ito yet
* also the date line is clear/identical (when showing posts of last day, 5 days back, etc.).

Gustaf, this is a feature many of us have asked for, sadly the software running FT doesn't support local time and is fixed to the local time of Colorado Springs...

It seems like the new version (6.5) of UBB (the board that FT runs) supports this feature http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

http://community.infopop.net/2/OpenT...2&m=7353066007

New in version 6.5:
- "User adjustable date/time view."
- "Featured topics. You can "make sticky" a topic. This will keep the topic at the top of the topic list."
- "Admins now have the ability to set the board to send a welcome PM to new registrants. The private message is customizable from the control panel."

Maybe itīs not possible to upgrade to 6.5?

Gustaf, indeed UBB6.5 is JUST out, for the first time in 5 years it's possible to change it, however I don't know if FT is planning on an update to 6.5, with 1 million + posts this would be an amazing update...

perhaps they could consider archiving ALL the posts in the current board and setting up a completely new one without any posts, just importing all the members... who knows...

What would be useful, though, for those of us who don't live in Mountain Time (or whatever it is), would be for the current "FT" time to be displayed at the top of the page. Then we would at least be able to tell how recent other posts etc are. I'm assuming this would be technically feasible?

The current FT tine is almost always displayed on the most recent post to OMNI, American, or United http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I don't see this as being an issue - my thoughts are to implement a system where I can state that I operate on Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) and all posts will state what time they are posted in that time zone.

This way, if someone posts something at 0200 AEST, and I know I went to bed at 0330 AEST, then I know I will have read that post. If someone posts at 0530 AEST then I know I will NOT have read the post, so will go and have a look.

At present, I use a number of computers all over the place, including at five different airline lounges today alone. Having the posting times in MY timezone (as a user configurable option, that is) would be extremely helpful to those of us who travel a lot (which is all of us really, isn't it????)

Any plans to upgrade this forum in a near future? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
