MST?
Hi!
I am just considering why the posts on FT are stamped with MST. It makes it's very unhandy for everybody from outside the US. I appreciate that this started as a US forum but it has evolved since then. Surely it would be more fair for everyone if FT used: GMT (UTC) Everybody knows what their local time is compared to GMT - people outside the US hardly have knowledge of their local time compared to MST. Just a suggestion. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif ------------------ Goldlust |
It's not really even accurate, as currently they are really not MST, but rather MDT. I would suggest that the label be as follows:
All times are: US/Canada Mountain (GMT-6 Apr-Oct; GMT-7 Nov-Mar) Changing the timestamp to GMT would in fact substantively inconvenience USA users, as it puts the reset of "Today's Active Topics" at 8pm EDT, a very likely time to be in the middle of a session. |
Okay, I guess I must accept that US users are still the majority here http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
In a perfect world the forum would adjust to the individual user so always would show local time (or whatever time zone that user might prefer). |
I just assumed that the Flyertalk computer server was located in Colorado; thus the reasoning for the time zone.
I could be wrong... that has certainly happenned before... and in many different time zones! William |
I just accept that the posted time is FlyerTalk Time.

I like chexfan's idea http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
Thanks for the suggestions, though... we'll keep them in mind. |
| All times are GMT -6. The time now is 8:32 pm. |
