Search Parameters

It seems to limit search efficiency to only look in one forum or ALL forums.

For example, when looking for threads about World Airways I was not sure what forums I wanted to examine but I surely did not need to have the engine search through Hotel, Credit Cards, rental cars, etc.

Why can't we either list the forums we want OR eliminate the forums we don't want?

This is an excellent suggestion if it can be implemented. Even with a very fast internet link, a search of multiple forums currently takes a very long time.

We're very much aware of the current search limitations of this bulletin board and here's an update: Much of the problem resides with the way that the application was written. Curerently Infopop, the supplier of this technology is in Beta for a new Enterprise Edition and as soon as it is publically available, we plan on switching because among many enhancements, is a much better search engine. Until then, we're really at their mercy to get the Beta completed. Also, while that may be a few weeks or a few months, we're moving this board over the next few weeks to a Sun Ultra II machine, which is really moving some horsepower. Currently we're running a Sparc Station for this board. It will be the forth machine upgrade we've done to try and stay ahead of the demand curve. We sincerely believe that in the next few months with moving to the Enterprise Edition and another server upgrade that everyone, including us will be happy. So, I would ask that you take into account where we are in these changes (we have even considered moving to another platform for technology but hate to change horses when the new version of this is sooooo close) and stay with us on this.....

I thank you all for your patience....

I look forward to the update Randy.

Watching a search in progress, the search would be much quicker (at least from my server) if it didn't have to load a new advert after every forum.
