hmmm... It was open and quite busy on 11/1 and still open but much more quiet on 11/2 as it got colder and cloudy outside

Thanks ^. Thought maybe it was just my bad luck as management told me that I was the first person they had heard this from...

Also, I have experienced "muddy/brown" water coming out of the sink and in the shower/tub for the first 3-5 seconds after turning them on, in some PH suites. So, I always remember to run the faucet or shower for 10 seconds or so before getting in or rinsing my toothbrush, grabbing a gulp of water, etc. Be careful!

my resort vista room was on the 10th floor this time (and i can probably recognize the lifeguards at the swimming pool now) but on the positive side the hot water was not an issue...
I did receive a Resort Vista upgrade on the 16th floor, but it faced southwest. I could soak in the tub and see NY NY and Mandalay Bay, but the construction zone on the west side of the Strip comprised the remainder of my view.

Overall, I felt quite pleased with my stay. One of the sinks had a minor problem with the pop-up drain, and the maintenance personnel arrived within an hour -- very quick for a property of this size.

The property has 2 generous sized pools although the depth is 3'6" throughout, probably to accomodate children. I had a decent swim since few guests actually used the pool.

With SPG Plat, they will discount the gym fee from $25 to $15 per person per day. I had many other activities to occupy my time anyway, so I declined on this occasion. The Westin Causarina has an excellent gym with complimentary access and more convenient parking garage access. I otherwise liked the Planet Hollywood more.

The front desk could not (or would not) waive the resort fee.

Awesome Planet H

Last night was the last night before the invitation-only blackjack tourney. I scored an internet-only rate of $69 while in town on business. My message light retrieval had a recorded message about some premier of Paris Hilton and others more famous I care equally less about, being at the property. I score tix to the premier, and while waiting around, I inadvertantly walk into a Priv'e party scene. Hung out with aforementioned until 2 am on the house. How good is that!!!!

Dudes at the BJ tourney: please give details on your room numbers (if favorable) and let us know if the thing was well-run. I just had to get home and wash off the stank. Party on!

Had three Hollywood Hip rooms for booked 11/05-11/08, at checkin received 1 Strip Suite on the 25th floor and 2 Resort rooms on the 9th floor. One resort room had a view of the pool and Paris, the other a view of the parking garage. Was amazed at the upgrades considering that SEMA was underway, and this is one of many reasons I continue to like the service at PH.

My coworker had the same experience. Stay #1 Tue-Thu & Stay #2 Fri-Sat on discount rates yielded Penthouse rooms.

need advice

i'm a preferred guest plus (supposed to be same benefits as gold, minus bonus points). what room am i likely to get if i book "rm assigned at check-in"? i could also book a resort room for the same price, although it claims to be a smoking room. is this a better bet? will i actually get stuck in a smoking room?

thanks

An enhanced/preferred room upgrade is the same type of room that you book originally, only it may include rooms on higher floors, corner rooms, newly renovated rooms, or rooms with preferred views.

Also, if you book a smoking preference room, I would expect to get a smoking preference room at check-in.

Basically, my advice is this: Book whatever room type you feel would best suit your needs and let the enhanced/preferred part of the benefits work to your advantage from there.

thanks for the advice and the quick reply. i've never booked a luck of the draw room (although i guess it is vegas) so was wondering what types of rooms other people have received.
did find the _non-smoking_ resort room but it's almost twice the price. maybe even the smokers in the casino don't want to have sleep in their own smog and are booking the non-smoking rooms.

Has any SPG Plat or Gold been able to get them to remove the so called Resort Fee?

The Diplomat in Hollywood,Fl is a TRUE Resort these others are simple Hotels, next thing you know all the Hotels in NYC,LA San Fran etc will call themselves Resorts cause they they are located in a city that has loads of tourists like Vegas and Honolulu

Post Burlesque production, "PEEPSHOW," coming to PH in March

Stomp Out Loud ends its run on Jan 4, 2009. Discount code 2LVOL2 is mentioned here for those who don't get other discounts such as 2-for-1 coupons.

I suspect that some FTers might be interested in the following opening night gala on Saturday, April 25.

From the new show's website:
"Tickets are on sale today for preview and regular performances of PEEPSHOW, the sexy new production set to open at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. PEEPSHOW, starring pop superstar Mel B. and sultry television siren Kelly Monaco, will open for preview performances on March 30, 2009, with an opening night gala planned for April 25 of 2009."

...

"PEEPSHOW will be performed Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Friday at 8 p.m. and Thursday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. with no show on Wednesday."

From TVGuide.com:
Brown and Monaco won't be topless, but the showgirls sharing the stage with them will be. Brown says she'll be "scantily clad, but in a classy way."

More info:
The seating plan is getting some adjustments for the new show. A VIP section is getting added to the front of the showroom. Here's a link to Ticketmaster.com's crude seating chart (in which seat and table numbers are not specified). Here's an interesting photo of the Stomp set from the current seating arrangement. Here's a better seat map for the current Stomp configuration.

Front row seats are currently available for the opening night.
