Element DFW - upgraded from a standard room to a 1 BR suite after I inquired about upgrade availability.

Westin Bellevue, WA - given corner room on the top floor, but was not a suite. Did not ask.

Westin Seattle - no upgrade. Arrived quite late, around 2:00a. Did not ask.

Sheraton Stonebriar (Frisco, TX) - Assigned standard room on SPG floor. Did not ask.

Usually get top floor at Alofts.

For my first stay as a Gold Member I checked into Sheraton NY - Times Square and wasn't even offered one of the Gold "welcome gifts". When I asked about them I was told that I wasn't Gold so I wasn't eligible for them. After a little more banging around on her keyboard she said, "Oh, I see it... which do you want?"

I then asked about an enhanced room on a higher floor (she had put us on the 7th floor). She said that all the rooms were the same and that she didn't have anything else available.

Hooray for Gold!

Hi, what are the chances of a upgrade in a hotel property in Singapore? Anyone has experience on that?

Le Meridien Chambers Minneapolis. Didn't ask for an upgrade, but before I even had a chance to, the agent said "slim pickings for upgrades tonight, I can give you a king deluxe room if that is ok?" I reserved a standard queen, so I thought it was a win! +1 for this property.. Fantastic hotel all around!

At the Westin Bellevue right now. No upgrade. I have a "grand deluxe" room, but there is nothing grand or deluxe about it. In fact, its the smallest Westin room I've ever had.

The bored clerk flatly asked, "which amenity would you like?" Then he got back to hating life.

When I arrived, there was only a bellman in the lobby. "Is there something I can do for you?" He asked. "Hi, I'm here to check in," I replied. He didn't respond and seemed like this was an odd request at 5:00 pm. I guess they have the "B Team" working tonight.

I only recently converted to gold. I got upgrades recently in Seattle and Boston as a non-gold. The system doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.

Westin has such high standards, but I've had much warmer customer service at Target and the Apple Store this week.

My last NYC stay as a Gold at the W Union Square. Got upgraded from a Wonderful to a Fabulous corner room for a 15 night stay.

Like it.

Oddly got a voicemail welcome from Whatever Whenever welcoming me and asking me if I got the foam pillows I requested. I didn't ask for any and I'm not sure there are any. Maybe it's in my profile somewhere.

This remains my preferred SPG NYC hotel at this price point.

Which room in St Regis did you book? If my understanding is correct, the Executive Deluxe is the lowest room followed by Grand Deluxe then Grand Deluxe Corner then the Lady Astor room? Can a Gold SPG member expect an upgrade based on this?

Shockingly, I got an Art Deco Balcony room (booked Art Deco room) at the Prince de Galles last week. First upgrade of the year.

The hotel was quite quiet when I checked in - albeit very late at night. I had a younger Asian gentleman check me in. He said, "We have room XXXX for you...very nice room," which I wasn't expecting given my late check-in time after a delayed flight. Got in the elevator and realized I was on the top floor, then walked to my room on the southwest corner! I had a very nice experience at this hotel.
