NYC - SPG Sticker Shock

Holy cow, looking to go on business next week and the rates are crazy, over $500 for the Sheraton Hotel & Towers, and over $600 at the W Times Square. I had gotten used to the $350 range in NYC but this must be high season.

Looks funny when my flight from GCM to LGA return was only $350.

Anyone else finding rates in NYC getting way up there?

Wow, that seems high. When I was going research for a trip a few months ago W & Westin in T Square were both around $250-$300.

Well in August/early September the rates are probably the lowest of the year. We are about to hit high season in NYC that last till the end of the year.

Rates are extremely high - but I also just booked a night at Sheraton Times Square in late Sept for 12000 points - a good value for me.

Just booked a Hilton award stay for the weekend of 9/27. Rates for the Doubletree Times Square were $479/night. I had enough points to get the 2 nights for free.

These rooms are more expensive than Hawaii. Geesh.

I booked at the InterContinental in November for 269 dollars a night plus tax a few months ago and I still consider that plenty.I rarely tend no to check or even look at Starwood properties in New York. When the Four Points without a mini bar becomes a cat 7 property please post here and let us know

Serious SPG sticker shock in NYC has led me to another chain for a stay this coming weekend. All rates in the city are pretty high right now, but SPG properties seem to be leading the way.

I was forced into a boutique hotel on the UWS - the room was TINY, but so was the price compared to the $500 minimum I was faced with back in early August.

for those that dont have keep going in & out of their room all day long; Dont forget there is NJ a few mins away via the Path Train (subway). Rates are usually alot less $$$ in NJ, and the couple of bucks for the Path will leave alot of $$$ in your pocket.

I found the same thing - I have a conference in mid November, and the lowest rate was $480 a night. However, I looked at the 'offers' section for each hotel, and found that the Westin Times Square has a buy two get three promo that worked perfectly. It put my rate to $280 a night for a corner king. Not bad all things considered.

But...dating back to '04-'06. Not exactly germane to the OP's observation.
It did give someone the chance to holler "search"
