I stayed here last week, and I have to say this is one of the best hotels I have stayed in thus far. Everything was great, but I didn't eat in the hotel as I was visiting to go downtown.

I particularly enjoy how late the pool is open due to the distance from downtown.

Can anyone comment on the walk to/from Rosemont here? Is the road and transit center parking lot you have to walk across active enough to be safe at night or will it be sketchy and deserted?

It's not really a walking kind of place. 1st, when I was there weeks ago (July 3rd and July 5th) there's construction all the way around the hotel. Are you just talking about walking to get exercise? I CAN say that the roads almost all the way around are dug up and the entrance is in a new spot. I'd assume the sidewalk would be torn up, as well. The parking lot is not that big IMO and it's directly across from a Mc Ds so it seems lit up. But you also have a casino element to think about as you're near a casino. That said, it's a great hotel. I stay every time I drive to WI to visit relatives. BTW- IF you get a room on the McD's side, watch the parking lot. My niece & I were stumped as to the appearance of a limo that stayed parked there overnight. Meanwhile we saw 3 other limos show up and leave from McD's lot. I even took a picture of it b/c it was such an odd sight. Anyway, enjoy your stay- this is one of the best Sheratons around and it's an airport property!

The walk from the transit stop is along active roads. I'd not necessarily describe it as sketchy but I'll only do it during daylight and in decent weather. You cross a freeway on ramp which I don't recall having a pedestrian signal and it's definitely not a major pedestrian area - thus I'd think cars are likely not expecting to see people on foot.

Just finished a one night stay layover at the Westin O'Hare. The shuttle bus was great arriving and departing..........not much to say about the O'Hare airport process thought as the shuttle bus area is in a totally different area and not necessarily easy to find to the exact pick up area. I just find parts of this airport old and not very inviting!!!
Got to the hotel and received our room on the 14th floor - I found the room to be large with an extremely high ceiling that the sound echoed! I am assuming this was just because we were on the top floor as I can't imagine the other floors with ceilings like this. The hotel was very modern with a nice new lobby area - nice warm colors.
We arrived fairly late and popped into the pub for a drink and a bite to eat. It was actually very busy in there and we were lucky to find a spot - We both found the food to be very good! In the morning we used the Plat benefit for breakfast and it was just perfect and the service was welcoming! I would definitely consider staying here again if we are passing through Chicago!

I believe they call these the Parlor Rooms (12th and top floor) - I love them personally as they feel extra spacious to me.

Amazing that this property doesn't get more attention on here.

I just stayed at this place and it was totally awesome!

Great people, great rooms (already fitted with SPG Keyless hardware), great dining in the lobby restaurant.

This is my new go-to place when I am around ORD.

I had interactions with FD (obviously), the concierge desk, service staff at "The Benchmark" pub and security. All were pleasant and efficient. The people who work here all care!

Housekeeping was great too and the room was modern.

This one is on my whitelist!

I haven't been back to the Westin to see the finished renovation yet. However, my previous stays have all been very pleasant. Great platinum recognition here - I think I'm batting 100% on suite upgrades without using SNA's.

I booked a workout room so no suite upgrade path but judging by the overall vibe and attitude there I can imagine they upgrade whenever it is possible.

Really good people work there! Next week I am at Sheraton ORD and it's a prepaid rate. If it were not prepaid I would hit this Westin again. All my future ORD business will go to this Westin.

Lobby is quite nice now - with a real, full service *B to book, which is always appreciated.

I had an early flight so I stayed here. This hotel is pretty popular with pilots, flight attendants, and passengers with vouchers for canceled flights.

My flight was at 6am and they have a shuttle that runs from something like 3 or 4am. I got onto the shuttle at 4:15am. It takes about 10 minutes to get to the airport. My shuttle actually had the 2 pilots for my flight so I said hi to them (they were talking about my flight number, etc.).

I didn't do much except crash in my room and sleep since I came here late after dinner and I wanted to sleep early.

Good stay though. I was not upgraded as far as I can tell (SPG platinum). I paid $130 for my stay on Thursday night.

I normally stay at the Hilton ORD since that hotel is right in the airport and you can walk to your gate (an extra 30 min of sleep in the morning is valuable) but I needed 1 more stay to get SPG platinum again so I stayed here instead.

Happy to post in this thread that has been silent for 5+ years

My two-night stay has been really good. I booked the most basic room and got (as a Plat) a truly spacious room on the highest, 12th floor, directly facing one of the runways. The room is and feels recently renovated. An extremely friendly and helpful check-in agent, an entirely adequate buffet breakfast as Plat benefit (liked the coffee pot).

As I only needed/wanted one visit to Downtown, the hotel location ("far away" at ORD) worked beautifully. The Rosemont Blue Line station is a 5-10 -minute walk away. I now have a leisurely morning at the Westin, followed by a stressless shuttle to catch my return flight.

In a true Flyertalk spirit, I can follow Flightradar24 for landing paths that go JUST over my room:

See my room (the blue point)?

...to be ready for the snapshot a few seconds later:

I would definitely stay at this Westin again!

I've liked the Westin O'Hare for being one of those properties where they have often gone beyond the "you are your rate this time" kind of thing even on third party bookings.
