As a reminder for those of you with so many starpoints, that you don't know what to do with them, I need 2 nights at the W San Francisco November 9-11.

You have a better chance of getting a kidney.

You'll need more than that...the SRBB is 120,000 points per night now I'm pretty sure.

I agree completely. When I joined SPG, I really liked the idea of being able to use them for a wide choice of airlines. But I've never done this, and it seems like a fairly painful exercise (you'd need to be sure the flights you wanted were available beforehand, and then cross your fingers that they stay available while the points turn into miles).

However, Starwood has some nice properties in Europe, which is a great use of points. This is especially true if you go in the off-season.

How about a formula on the shiny new website that allows us to plug in age, accumulation rates, lifestyle factors and point totals - then tells us exactly when we would have to permanently move into a Starwood hotel where we would spend the rest of our lives in Club Floor bliss and leave nary a point behind?

120k?! That is criminal. I paid 50k for 1 night less than a year ago, Oct 06.

Granted, it was off season by a couple of days, but that is an amazing pts jump.

I have 348K points. Mostly business related charges. Starwood Amex is one of my top cards to use. I like the ability to top off airlines and especially night and flights which s a excellent use of points if you find a decent cat 3 or 4 hotel.

I don't know much about the St. Regis Bora Bora, but it's hard for me to imagine that 1 night there is worth approximately 10 nights at a hotel like the Europa & Regina or the Grande Bretagne.

I called SPG last week and they said it would be between 50k and 70k per night. But the agent wasn't 100% sure. Same for the Bora Bora Nui (which "only" costs EUR 370 or so and therefore should be the worst redemption rate ever).

Since mid-April 2006 I have 300+ paid nights in *wood properties. During this time I've made redeptions totalling 60K points.

Taking that into account you might think I'd be drowning in points, however my current balance is barely 100K points.
