Taxes not included in Reward Night?
I just did a search & only came up with answers other than those associated with the Starwood program, so I hope you don't mind me asking here.
I'm currently at a Sheraton in Newark near the airport. I used 4000 Starpoints for last night. I am at the Gold level. I was Also told there would be a parking charge of $7, but I'm not sure when / where I'm supposed to pay that charge.
They just slipped my "bill" under my door, & it reads as follows:
Room Revenue: $35.08
State Tax: $ 2.46
Occupancy Tax: $ 2.46
Guest Room Internet Fee $9.99 (which I was told yesterday would not show up on the bill, so I will be fighting this charge regardless)
I stayed in the Sheraton Safari in FL last year for two weeks, used only points as payment, & yet I wasn't charged anything extra at all. Hence my confusion here.
Can anyone let me know if this is valid? Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Taxes on room should be included
I have always been told that taxes are included. My question to you is -
What is the $35.08 for? You are questioning the ~$5 in taxes but not the $35?
Did you have any room service etc? If so, that would be taxable!
I am sure a quick stop at the front desk should sort it out!
Unrelated question? Did they upgrade you to Club level as Gold? I am staying there using points next week!

Thanks for the response. I meant to question all of the charges & just mentioned the tax in my title. My apologies for the confusion.
I will be visiting the front desk momentarily to try to sort this out. I'd like to stay another night using my points, but not if I'll be charged all of those charges to do so!
I just mentioned the I was a Gold member because I wasn't sure if that would make a difference in my situation at all. I was upgraded to Gold a few months ago. This is my first time visiting this particular property.
Thanks again!

Taxes are included in the reward stay. The room revenue figure is likely how much the hotel is paid by SPG, and should not appear on your bill. As for the internet charge, if you used it, then I guess you'd be responsible for it.
So, should just be $9.99 plus the parking charge you mentioned.

Does anyone else find it interesting that Starwood probably paid exactly 1 cent per point: $40 with taxes?
It's always nice to get data points regarding SPG accounting.

* Resolved *
Just returned from the front desk. The paper was taken away from me, & the employee said I should not have been charged anything at all.
* YAY * - wonderful news to me!
