You could earn stay credit if you did a revenue stay and added the free night as a second night. But not just by using the freebie.

Thank you for registering for this Starwood Preferred Guest(R)
promotion. Now you can earn 3,000, 9,000 or 18,000 bonus
Starpoints(R) when you stay three, six or nine times between
June 1 and August 31, 2007.

Well, thanks to the OP! Just wish I could take advantage of this one, as I'm in school during this time period. 9 stays in 3 months tough right now...

Still.....when compared to the 3/6/9 stay promo......it's a bit 'off'.

While the 3 and 6 stay portions return the same ratio of points per stay (1000 and 1500 respectively........the 9 stay max returns 18K Starpoints....or 2K per stay.

If the point per stay ratios were equal among all offers, then the 12 stays should earn 24K Starpoints.

And when you compare both offers side by side using 9 stays (3 per month over the 3-month promo period):

9 stays on the 4/8/12 promo = 12K Starpoints

9 stays on the 3/6/9 promo = 18K Starpoints

An extra 6K Starpoints for those on the 3/6/9 promo......

FWIW, last year I was given the 3/6/9 promo for 18K Starpoints......and maxed it out.

I was only a SPG Gold level member at the time.....

Which makes me wonder....

1a. Have any SPG Plats received the 3/6/9 stays for 18K promo?

1b. Or were all Plats offered the 4/8/12 stay promo and/or a choice of that or free weekend nights?

2a. Have any SPG Golds received the 4/8/12 stays for 20K promo?

2b Were any Golds offered a choice of promos?

A.J.

Thanks to the OP for the info.
My exact thoughts! Glad I got the choice. ^

It is frustrating to realize that offers differs so widely. I already requalified for my PLT status for 2008 and got the lowest promotion (9k). I wish I could have the free nights or a more valuable promotion... Would really like to see how they target everybody. Is it more nights and stays, less promotions?

Again I learned about these promos on FT, did not receive any notification from SPG about that.

That would be because none of them have been sent out yet.

*wood Lurker, If I check in on 5/28 and check out on 6/1, will it count as an eligible stay for this promotion? Probably not??

Not if it's based on stays. The arrival date is what counts when a promotion is based on stays, not the nights within the stay itself.

Good news William but if it happens that would be a first for me anyway .... For the last 2 years always got that info on FT and never received any direct notification of promos... and yes my profile is showing that I want to get notifications from SPG.

This is not a big issue for me, just annoying, lucky enough to know FT!

So... waiting for that E-mail!!

Well, my fingers are crossed. But if it happens to come by direct mail instead, don't throw it out thinking it's trash. LOL.

I checked and had the choice of stay 4/8/12 and receive 1/2/3/ free weekend nights or 4/12/20K bonus points. I chose the nights as it's unlikely I will have more than 4 stays in that period and 1 night is worth up to 10K points. I won't have any problem using it before the end of the year. Thanks OP and SPG! ^

Oh goody. I was just going to ask if my 8/31-9/3 stay would count for this promo...

Not being a moron I am, of course, taking it.
While I'd rather have 20k points, this is a pretty good deal. if you spend an average of $200 for a night in a Sheraton, that's worth 600 points per night or 1800 points for 3 nights (if you're gold or have SPG Amex). Adding 3 K points makes it 4800 points for 3 nights - or 8 points per dollar spent. Given the lower point requirements for award stays than other hotels, that's pretty attractive.

It's getting to be almost routine.
