Cash or points, that is more than I would pay for this hotel. There are plenty of other choices in Geneve.

More than I would pay too. It is a nice enough property but there are other choices and the PW is a little out of the centre of town.

I agree ^
Prices at PW are, even in GVA, much to high for what is offered

nice hotel with minor flaws

I stayed at the President Wilson for 5 nights this October. Got upgraded to a corner junior suite, which was nice, but not very large. The gym is small, but can be accessed 24h with your room key. Staff at reception was friendly. Not so the doormen. Breakfast was included in my room rate, but the buffet was really nothing to write home about. There is not much around the hotel. In summer they have a nice pool and the lake is just across a busy street.
Since all good hotels in Geneva are expensive, I would probably stay at the President Wilson again.

The President Wilson was elected to be the world's most expensive hotel.

Impossible. There are places in the middle east that never go under 1000 USD entry level. President Wilson cant at times be had for 350-400 CHF entry level. They can vote all they want but President Wilson will not win that award.

Having just read the article we can immediately see that it has been poorly researched. THey claim that President Wilson is 740 Euro (around 900 CHF) entry level. It is in fact less than half that.

You are right, of course. The entry level is probably the rack rate but still... There are certainly more expensive hotels in the world. But nice to see the President Wilson made it to the news

This hoel used to be much more reasonably priced. I've stayed here for under CHF 300 (when exchange rate was CHF 1.2 = $1) and upgrade to a junior suite. Those were the days.

I can't justify staying here anymore.

the ranking only refers to the most expensive suite and this is the Royal Penthouse Suite in the Wilson.

One question: Why is this place so expensive???? Just cos its GVA? or are there other reasons that justify it being a category 7 hotel?

All the 5 star hotels in that area are very expensive. Most people going there are on virtually unlimited expense accounts.
