Upgrading help?
I'm not sure if this is the right place or not, but...
I got an awesome brg rate at the keauhou in may for a mountain view room. On the reservation confirmation there's the upgrade your room to ocean view for $50 button. Would it be a good idea to do this online, or would it be better to ask/pay for an upgrade when we get to the hotel? Ultimately, I would like to see if it's possible to pay for an upgrade to an ocean front (anniversary and all...), but I don't know which is a better way to go about it.
Any advice/input would be very appreciated!

Yes, this is an appropriate place. Welcome to FlyerTalk, jbfrae!
Call or email the hotel directly and ask if they have an offer for oceanfront. If you wait until you arrive, then they might not have any available. If you have elite status, let them know since it might weigh into their decision about what to offer you.

I was at this hotel recently. Met a couple there who told me they were on a priceline stay but that had asked for ocean view and it only cost them $20 to upgrade.

Still a Sheraton
It appears that the change in ownership scheduled for June 1 doesn't change the ability to make reservations on points.

Does anyone know what the resort fee includes here, or what the alternate Platinum amenity is?

Strange things are happening related to this property. We have three nights C&P booked for January 2012. I noticed today that two days ago, they charged $90 to my credit card (I assume for one night of C&P). I'll call them tomorrow to ask about this, but it appears the phone number associated with the charge is from Florida. Then, when I went to my account to check on the reservations, all of them come up with the "The system is temporarily unavailable" message and the "send confirmation" link doesn't work either.
Is there something they're not telling us?

Yeap, I stayed last Apr, and offered free valet as plat status.. They explained what are included in resort fee like self-parking. And, then explained free valet to plat amenity.. But, it might be changed since my stay..

Thanks, OWT. I'll hit 'em up for valet, since we'll have a car. Not much of a plat amenity, but at least it's something.
