Marriott vs. Arabella-Sheraton in Zurich?
Hello -
I'm going to Zurich in March, and am trying to decide where to stay. I'm hoping to use points, so it's either the Marriott or the Arabella-Sheraton. Location is probably the most important factor - since it'll be chilly in March, I'd prefer somewhere close to restaurants, shopping, etc. Based on my research so far, the two hotels seem relatively comparable in terms of location, and it seems like the tram system would make getting around easy anyway, but I was wondering if anyone in either the Starwood or Marriott forums had an opinion.
Thanks!

No, I remember that this Marriott was somehow uphill and it was snowing, it was cold, streets were dirty and I had to walk uphill from downtown. If had seen that movie theatre, maybe I would have felt better

No problem for me. I see, you have not followed the discussion on kids, sex shops and the LM in Munich: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showt...ght=beate+uhse

For my part I also prefer the Arabella Sheraton for its proximity to the lake and the Paradeplatz/Bahnhofstrasse and the nieghbourhood in general.

The Marriott is more "new world" whereas the Arabella is more "continental". I would consider the Arabelle to be more central. It is in comfortable walking distance to Bahnhofstraße with all the shops and on block to the next tram stop. In my recollection, the walk from the Marriott was more unpleasent.
The Marriott on the other hand although offers everything that a reg Full service Hotel does.

Its been quite a while since I stayed at the Marriott Zurich, but we loved it - we stayed there 3 times. Large Rooms, the most fabulous concierge that ever existed, easy parking, and coffee at 5am in the lobby when you can't sleep but the Mr. is snoring away. They also had a "free" conference room and computer where we could meet clients if need be.
That said, its across the (somewhat dark) "park" from the Banhofstrasser and depending upon what you want to do, it can be a cold walk ALL the way down to the lake....very cold. I would not have liked walking through / around the park alone.
