Unless you really need the stay credit or points, I'd say neither.
Wynn is offering some very attractive rates - check the Las Vegas forum for the codes.

If you're in need of the stay or points I'd say stay at the PH. Its centrally located on the strip and I received a Plat upgrade when I checked in.
You do have to watch out for the timeshare people though as they can be rather annoying walking through the casino.

Absolutely Planet Hollywood without a question. The Westin is . The service is horrendous. I've personally witnessed guests freaking out at the hotel staff by calling the cops. That's how bad that place is. Check in agents don't care either. You will get a Westin room.
Planet Hollywood has renovated rooms and I get upgraded to large corner suites with strip view and a gigantic tub. It's not a luxury hotel, but it's totally acceptable. The real benefit here as a platinum is that you get VIP check in. I pretty much only go to Vegas on Sat nights and you know how long the line to check in/out can be. As a Plat, you get to bypass the line to use VIP check in as well as 4PM check out. Those 2 benefits alone for me (since I go out gambling and don't stay in the room much. I VALUE the 4PM check out tremendously) are worth more than the suites at Bellagio. Also, you get to bypass the buffet line

I've stayed at both and would prefer the Planet Hollywood. the Westin is off the strip. It is only a couple of blocks away from the main drag, but the PH is far more convenient. The PH is a typical Las Vegas resort and Casino. The Westin is more of a standard Westin Hotel, despite the small casino in the lobby.

PH for sure. I stayed there using one of my free nights earned and I still got 500 points and an upgrade to a suite. They have a $5.44 resort fee, while the Westin has over $10 resort fee. Join the a-list gaming program and they will give you a coupon book with discounts for food and other stuff. Buffet discounts of $5 or 20% at some of the restaurants. They even gave me late chekout.

Westin is off the strip and bleh.
PH will typically upgrade you to a strip suite - a large room with a big bathroom, separate shower, and a huge round bathtub. As stated above, you get late checkout of 4 pm as a platinum, points, and a coupon book.
The pools are both large but nothing spectacular for Vegas, but definitely better than Westin.

I like the upgrade to a Strip View suite and the shortcut at check-in I got last weekend too. A little too glitzy/Vegas for me, but it was a good time overall. Make sure you get your $15 bonus play (slots) when you check in too!

Westin is pretty bad. If you have a few minutes, do a search on the forum for the Westin Casuarina and note the decline in the property over the years. It's a fun read.
The Westin is only a few blocks off the strip and if you have a car, it's actually more convenient, since there is always parking right in front of the hotel, as opposed to PH, where the garage is located about 112 miles away from the hotel (Well, it seems that way, anyway.).

I would tend to agree with the others that PH is better and usually has cheaper rates to boot.
Neither pool is competitive in Vegas, so I wouldn't expect much there.
If you will have a car, I really like the convenient self parking at the Westin. You'll need a lot of patience of valeting at PH, not only picking up but also dropping off. My last stay I ended up self parking and walking thru the garage then the mall - it seemed quicker that way.
There's really no scene at the Westin, tiny casino. PH's renovated casino actually has a pretty good scene. Their buffet is decent as well, though fading.
Plats usually get a decent upgrade at PH, I am 0 for 4 at the Westin.
I don't usually walk around the strip, but I think in those terms they are relatively equal, the Westin is about a block off the strip, whereas PH is right on the strip - if you can find the doors that let you out on it.
I have been staying at PH more often lately because they have had much better rates, sub-$100 on the weekends.
In either case you can't really go wrong, or right for that matter - there are much better places to stay in Vegas.

Staying at PH on the ZBT (better tomorrows) rate from June 14th - 16th (Sun -Tues). $79 first night, $39 the second night. Not too shabby.

A little OT, but for those of you who are in Vegas frequently, there is a pretty good "When are you in Las Vegas" thread over in the LV forum.

I agree that the PH is generally the better choice, alas-- when I'll be there next (Sat 6/6-7), PH's lowest rate is $200+, whereas the Westin is $89. I've been checking almost daily, and nothing below $189 + taxes So it'll be the Westin for me this trip

Just booked a room for both...one night each starting on June 22. PH was an $81 AAA rate, and the Westin was a $79 promo on their web site. I'm not crazy about either one, but it made more sense than doing a 2-stay mattress run to get another free weekend night under my belt...
